Due to not meeting the critera of his contract he will become a free agent next season. Jackson is exactly what we need in a running back I hope we make a move on him next season, what do you guys think???

He's going to be 30, coming off an injury with nearly 2200 carries.

    Pass.

Actually more like run screaming into the parking lot.

Because I know this is going to come up: Fred Jackson had 647 carries for his career before 30. Thomas Jones had 1659. That's kind of the range for effective play after 30 for a new team. The 2197 carries that Steven Jackson has is like 2 full seasons more of heavy use than TJ had before he came to us but in the same career length.

Typically short sighted move that is indicative of our past failures.

    We'll probably sign this beast.

    Pass.

Marcus Lattimore, Leveon Bell, Joseph Randle, Stepfan Taylor, Giovani Bernard.

Id rather sign Jonathan Dwyer, Mendenhall, or Reggis Bush (even though he's a scumbag) if available.

We can not build through free agency and pay for aging vets, especially THIS team. There's a good chance we go into rebuild mode and go young all around.

Wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Rashad Jennings. I like what I've seen of him and he hasn't taken too much of a pounding as a back up all these years....but yeah, this team is a lot more that a quick FA signing away from being a legitimate contender. In general we need to start building through the draft, starting with a solid 2013 draft class.

it's like if people see ANY name that they recognize, immediately they must be signed to the jets.

"priest holmes reported to be joining the nfl.."
"AWWWWW YEAHHH THIS IS THE GUY WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR"
    ".. network."
"WE COULD HAVE USED HIM MAN."

I'd like to get Bush as well, but how do you figure he's a scumbag? First I've heard that.

Will the Dolphins let him go? He seems like a prime candidate for the franchise tag.

Wait...he didn't meet the criteria of his contract so they get to dump him which means the Jets should sign him? Really?

I doubt they resign him, they have too much young talent at the position. And he said we deserved to lose Revis last week. That's why he's a scumbag.

It would be very Jet-like to sign an aging RB who's worn down and past his prime.

Edit: 90 receptions is impressive stat. Always, looked down on that division even as it becomes more relevant. Jackson had two really good seasons the rest were just status quo.

He's pretty much done. Lot's of mileage, and he's starting to break down. So it sounds like someone they may bring in ;). I would pass.

Steven Jackson has always sucked? He's always been on subpar teams, and the dude has carried the weight. He caught 90 passes one year, and ran for 1,500+. He hasn't sucked, ever.

This is what happens to running backs, the tires are starting to fall off.
