Would benching Sanchez "ruin him"?

I think if it was really Ryan's call he wouldn't be starting this week.

The Jets FO's complete disregard for their WR, TE, and RB situation has already done the job on Sanchez. Any chance he had to develop is now gone. The Jets went into this season with mediocre front line OL talent, and poor depth. mediocre (at best) RB talent and poor RB depth. Mediocre WR talent and poor WR depth. Mediocre TE talent and NO TE depth, and expect Mark Sanchez to be the one to carry the offense. It wasn't going to happen.

Lots of teams added some decent talent to their rosters so far this season. The Jets FO seems to be assiduously looking to avoid it. They've done nothing to help at TE even though Winslow and Shockey was available. They've done nothing to help Sanchez at WR even though guys like Owens Ocho, Gafney and Burress are available. Instead Sanchez has to hope a guy like Gates can suddenly become a star.

Its criminal. The Jets are now speaking volumes to Mark Sanchez. Can Sanchez's Liz Clayburn be far behind.?

Anyone who thinks keeping Sanchez and fixing this team is gonna win us a title is sadly mistaken, this is a QB league, ground and pound, Mark Sanchez aint gonna work we need a Franchise QB

It won't ruin him but it won't accomplish anything positive. People mistake Sanchez demeanor for him not caring. I remember before Eli won his super bowls people complained he wasn't a leader like his brother Peyton. While I'm not always a fan of his play on the field, he hasn't cracked under the pressure of playing in NY for the circus that is the Jets. Ryan Leaf would have self-destructed a million times over if he was here. Sure Mark could have been benched now and before if we had a better alternative. Who's fault is it, that at the most important position we have zero depth?

Ppl who complain about his passer rating and then in the same breath say we should bench him for Tebow who has a lower rating.

As far as McElroy, we will eventually have to test him out but I'd doubt he would do well considering he hasn't practiced with the first team and has little familiarity with the receivers and offense. Maybe towards the end of the season when we are out of playoff contention. Because if you are looking to win now putting in a 7th round 208th pick rookie in isn't going to improve your chances.

I don't understand why we didn't sign some good players to surround the QB. That's true whether the QB is Sanchez, Tebow or effing Brady. Who is responsible for this cluster fuck?

This board is unbelievable. One thread is dumber than the next. I have never seen a player take more blame for a complete team breakdown than Sanchez is taking on this board.

Get a clue, people. This team is bad.

Somebody said above that the solution is simple - Sanchez needs to complete more passes!!! To who??? The team can't run the ball and there is nobody open downfield. The RBs are not part of the passing game and the Jets have no tight end. There is nobody for Sanchez to complete passes to and when he does, there have been numerous drops.

Sanchez committed two bad turnovers on Sunday and his ball security is still an issue, but I was at the game and he had nowhere to throw the ball.

And to top if off, the defense is getting completely shredded by the run. This defense is looking and playing like a Ted Cottrell defense - bend and then break.

Exactly. Giving him the keys to the car since day one only spoiled him. Let him sit the bench. I'll bet it'll make him appreciate the QB position more than he did before.

If he's a little bitch, which some think he is, then yes. If where 2-6 or 3-5 and all hope is lost, fuck em.

    This.

This board is in full panic mode. Not to say we don't have anything to worry about but the solutions are comical. Tough love, bench and fire everyone, etc

Is this what a franchise looks like right before being overhauled? Certainly looks as thought the Jets' house needs a thorough cleaning as this franchise is not only sinking, but is directionless and bordering on becoming irrevelant.

No one really buys what Rex Ryan is selling anymore. Most take his comments and try to stifle their laughter (or their tears). The Qb was too young to be handed the starting job but because the Owner needed to sell tickets, he needed a marquee name and a Latino surname certainly didn't hurt.

Benching Sanchez means that the FO/CS screwed up big time. Benching Sanchez means the GM screwed up by giving the QB an extension. We won't mention this same GM resigning perhaps the worse LT in the NFL. Benching Sanchez means they no hold any value in some perceived "upside" in Sanchez's development as once he's benched, barring injury he'll stay benched.

Sanchez probably should have screamed bloody murder when the Tebow trade was made. Perhaps he should have put up quite the stink instead of playing the "good soldier" role. Perhaps he should have come out and said "this situation sucks, I don't like it one bit". That would have served him better than the accomodating good soldier that now looks completely lost taking snaps.

Sanchez easily should've had his best pass he threw all day intercepted as well. Luckily the San Fran LB dropped it. I know this cluster fuck isn't totally on him, and I get he doesn't have Pro Bowl players at the skill positions, but at what point do we expect him to elevate his game and make the guys around him better? It is unrealistic to expect every pass he throws to not get dropped. Drops happen to every single QB, always have, always will. Mental paralysis seems to envelope him the minute things go even a little bit south. His body language sends a terrible message as the leader of this football team. Just my opinion, disagree if you will...

#24 in passes dropped. Getting really tired of hearing that excuse. Dropped passes happen, it's not like we have the only WRs in the NFL that drop the occasional pass. It's just so much more glaring for us because when a pass actually ends up in the general vicinity of a WR, the excitement level goes through the roof.

I think he's already ruined. It's just adding shit on top of shit each weak he plays awful. But that'd be the nail in the coffin.

I am pretty much convinced that ouchy is a Jets beat writer. Most of ouchy's threads are either outright attention grabs or reaches for the sake of hype. And they are mainly the 'troll' type which revolve around one 'provocative' statement and then total silence from the OP, signifying the theft of opinion.

Of course benching him ruins him. The organization is telling him they dont have any faith in him as their QB anymore. If this happened in year 1 it would be fine, maybe even year 2. But in year 4? That would mark the end of the Sanchez era most likely.
