Why aren't people as outraged over Epps doing pretty much the same thing earlier in the game? It didn't cost us 6, but he dropped it because of injury. I can't believe people are saying he's faking it. He made a boneheaded play, but he didn't fake the injury.
because half the fan base had already hung themselves by then. yeah right, faking it, he got hit hard right in the knees, he got crushed. i'm with you barcs.
After reading this "Holmes fumble" thread, I looked at the play again. Let me ask this...if the ball, after leaving Homes hand, had gone out of bounds, would that have even been ruled a catch? And if not, what makes it a fumble?
It would have been a fumble, based on the ruling on the field. So out of bounds or not it wouldnt have mattered. You could argue he gave himself up, but that's really not totally clear. BTW he could have tossed it out of bounds, negating this whole conversation. Instead he opted to hand it to Carlos Rodgers, which is the whole point. BTW x2, a classless move by Rodgers. It may have been classier for him to run out of bounds or something especially given the score, but hey.
Like I said, the difference between the replacement refs and the 'real' refs isn't blown calls. The 'Real' refs know which teams the NFL Front Office wants to win, in any particular situation.
I'm pretty sure he always has fundraising events for sickle cell disease. He's not a bad guy outside of football.
So Holmes grabbed his knee, had to be carried off, had his knee examined, and it's his foot that is hurt? Now Rex has said that X Rays were negative, that it wasn't his Achilles, and that "It's hard to say" if it's a Lis Franc tear? Is anybody else thinking that Holmes isn't hurt that bad and that he was just being a drama queen? The fucker better have a serious injury or else I'm demanding a press conference!
This is spot on. He is even being shown in pictures holding his knee on the cart ride off the field. Then its his foot, now its his achilles? I think its the thing on top of his shoulders that really the issue. I'm done with the thread, WE ARE STUCK WITH HIM, HE KNOWS IT, THE JETS KNOW IT, AND WE AS FANS KNOW IT! Cue the Shannon Sharp Super media day interview about Ray Buchanon and insert Santonio...Best clip ever BTW
yup, you bet...and a great point. If Holmes come back in short order I'll begin to wonder if that was his way of bailing on the team AGAIN. I also started a thread about Keller pulling a silent hold out with this hammy injury...And my suspicion unfortunately still stands. I've never seen a hammy injury of the magnitude we saw him have, keep a guy out for 6 weeks. Ever. He walked off the field, has been teetering a return for weeks, and even gave it a go week 1. In that game, he didnt sustain a major setback he was more pulled due to score.
I do not know how severe the injury is if at all but did anyone see Holmes ride the cart into the tunnel ? He threw a kiss to the fans with a big smile on his face,,,,,if anyone can post it please do so------I hope this guy is really injured ( not badly ) and did not fake it,,,I mean he went down like he got shot
In real time there was no way to tell he was giving himself up or injured. He slipped down and tossed the ball away. Maybe there should be a special rule that allows for dumb assed players on the team we root for to not be charged with turning the ball over when they do smething fucking stupid?
There is no rule that separates down by slipping and down by sliding. If he slipped then decided to remain on the ground then that would be considered giving yourself up. He gave himself up because he was injured. You can say it was stupid of him to throw the ball up. But you guys are basically saying that the NFL rules are wrong and you guys are right. After he fell he never attempted to get back up and run.
Is this for real? What are you talking about, dudes on the ground, not touched on the way down or while on the ground...the ball is still live and he threw it away(AKA fumble) and the other team picked it up.... Sounds like the NFL rules are just fine and in order.
At the rate that Jets TE's are getting serious knee injuries, I can't say I blame him. These things come in 3's...
So are you saying that if he instead flipped the ball up to another Jets player and he ran for a TD it would be null and void because he gave himself up? It was a clear cut call, only QB can slide to give himself up. Play was never blown dead nor should it, live ball you do the math. All he had to do was hold on to the ball for 2-3 seconds and as soon as he got touched by a defender he would be down by contact.
This is the most hilarious 9 page argument I've ever read. Let's just agree that the safest thing to do is hold on to the effing ball. Period.
Because Epps lost the ball basically when he got hit, and the force of the hit could have knocked the ball out. Still not a good play, but it's Dedrick Epps, and it was a bad call anyway. Even Pereira said it was a bad call. With Holmes...I don't even know how to explain that. It's Monday, surprised there's no update, this is weird.
