Guys, in the past Woody has been a great owner and Tannenbaums terrible drafts since the Revis/Harris year has really hurt this team. And I realize we have to sign guys in future years. That said, the Jets never let that get in the way of taking care of the current team. We are an absolute mess this year, we have positions that don't have a player. When Connor the FB went down, we used a TE that never played the position that we signed 3 weeks ago. Tha'ts incredible. We still don't have a blocking TE, we bring an OL in which tells everyone that we are running. That's just 2 examples. In the past, Tanny would have signed someone on the spot to fill that hole, no more. You want to live in the past go ahead, bad times ahead for the Jets because woody is in major debt with the stadium and revenue is down. Not saying I blame him, its a business, just saying how we are going to be effected. Dark days ahead AGAIN!!!!
This past off season was not a good one. It was not all bad, but overall it was pretty bad. Hunter is finally gone, but Howard is not so great, and I still don't understand why they let Hunter's contract go to $2.5 mil without even trying to renegotiate. Then there was the fiasco sequence of interest in Peyton, extending Mark's contract, signing Stanton, trading for Tebow, then letting Stanton go. This is not the place to go over all the rest of the gory details. But who is in charge here? We know for better or worse Woody is not one of your hands off owners. He's chosen to have an accountant run the team as opposed to a real football guy. The Tebow trade was worst of all. It made no sense at the time and makes no more sense three games into the season. It looked like a desperate grab for attention at the time, and it still does. I tend to be inclined to not care about what the media or fans of other teams think about the Jets. But that's no reason to draw needless attention to clownish behavior. If there were a decent point to it I would feel differently. It's Woody's team, if he wanted it to be otherwise he could make the changes that would make it otherwise. Maybe he doesnt' know how to. Maybe he's happy with the way things are. Maybe he's more focused on Romney's campaign. Whatever the reason, he is not doing things to make the team better.
If there isn't anyone worth signing - what do you do? Just bring in any old body to try and replace someone that is most likely better? The stupidity in these posts is unreal. Most teams don't even carry a true full back and we are bitching about not having a b/u fullback and using a TE in place - as if creating versatility with multiple players is a bad thing. Now the fanbase is bitching that we need a blocking tight end. The jets had one. Anyone remember? Anthony Behct - and the whole fucking fanbase bitched that he had stone hands...regardless that we was a great blocking TE. If Jesus Christ came down and told you that the Jets were going to win 3 consecutive Superbowls in 5 years you would bitch to him about having to wait 5 years. This fanbase will never be happy.
Do you think Steve Biscotti is a bad owner because on running situations they bring in Jonathon Ogden as an extra tight end? Was Kraft a bad owner when Bellicheck had Troy Brown & Edleman playing defense? There's another team that drafted a guy as an outside linebacker and now is playing fullback and tight end. This isn't Madden where you have to have a given number of players labeled at each position.
Bite me ass wipe. I have been a STH for 32 years, dont need a lecture from a child. Yeah, if you use a FB in your offense, you have to have a backup on the practice squad. That's how it works. And we had a blocking TE the last 3 years Rex was our coach but we got cheap this year. If yo are happy with this 53 man squad and the job Woody, Rex and Tanny have done, you are a moron. This is the worst team we have had since Mangini days.
He is looking LONG TERM whereas U are looking SHORT TERM. Us winning 3 SBs in the next ten years is as far fetched as Obama winning Texas in Nov.
Yes, champ is correct. I don't think Woody is going for it ever year like he had in the past. He's not bringing in the $ he expected to, he over sold his hand with the fanbase. If we go 5-11 like I expect, wait to you see how many Season ticket holders in the Uppers bail. Plus he know's Obama is gonna win and start taxing him his ass. The time are a changing and it ain't gonna be pretty. I hope I am wrong but I don't think so. Guys like Champ have been trying to tell me for months but my love of the Jets took over and I am always hopeful but I ain't blind and this roster sucks. That said, let the Jets surprise me and beat the 49'ers and the Bill beat the Pats. Either way, we ain't winning shit this year.
Where in the hell do you get 5-11? 7-9 I can get, but if this team isn't at least 4-4 by the bye week I would be disappointed. Miami will be tough since they are coming off a bye week but its at home and Indy isn't that good. Your telling me after the bye week they couldn't beat the rams, jaguars, or the titans? Even the chargers may not be that hard considering its at home
I really wanna curse the shot out of u, but I'll get banned. I think it's better to step away from the keyboard now. There is something called a salary cap in NFL. Hopefully u know how that affects teams that are on the brink of it. We'll be cheap again next year but that's because we have already spent out fucking allotment for the year!
If u think Woody is in debt with the stadium and all, you are crazy. This sport is pocket change for him to start off with.
Why in the world did we get cheap this year. The whole goddamned league is moving toward 2 and even 3 TE sets for receiving and Rex is moving that was as well - Cumberland and Keller as pass catchers with Reuland and Epps the up and comers. Hartsock was not exactly lighting the world on fire but Ducass and Smith as blocking tight ends replacing Hartsock are perfectly fine. And we do have a B/U in FB. We have our TE moving into that position and Nick Bellore - that's right - the LB was playing that position in OTA's and TC. So we have 2 B/U FBs and technically 2 blocking TEs. And if the Jets had as you say - a b/u FB on the PS, then he would not have been able to step into the game when Conner went down anyway. No one is 100% happy with this roster but there were no RTs to go out and get. Teh only one that was worthwhile was a guy who flunked his physical. So again - whom else was available that they could have gotten at RT? p.s. Hurray for you that you are a STH for 32 years. Let me take a knee Sire.
Please, let out all your frustrations on me, I won't take it personally. The cap has nothing to do with us not signing a # 2 WR or a starting RT. Have you seen Stephen Hill play? Does he look like he's a # 2 WR at this point? He's not ready, he might be good at some point but not now. Every year before this we managed to work around the cap to get players to help us win but this year, we went on the cheap. We cant run, we can't pass, we can't stop the run and we can't pass rush. The only thing we can do is kick FG's and punt, that's it. We barely beat the Dolphins last week and they lost Bush half way through the game. This roster is a joke
Of course he's in debt with the stadium and so are the Giants. The point is the revenue stream he counted on to pay for the place, you know the thing called PSL has not given him the amount of $ he counted on. He blew it by over charging for the good seats. The Giants on the other hand, charged Upper deck people PSL's and sold out where the Jets did not which has allowed Season ticket holders to give up there seats. The Jets are selling Season tickets for $50 per game in the UD, do you have any idea how desperate they are? The blackout rule was changed or you would not be seeing them on local TV, that's how bad it has become. http://content.usatoday.com/communi...watering-down-tv-blackout-rule/1#.UGX4HsrAGCc
Jets going with a 52 man roster instead of 53 this weekend. Rex gave some BS about Revis and the Super Bowl. They are trying to save a buck and not pay someone a NFL salary for a week or more. What team goes into a game short one man? Rex being the company man trying to save his job. Now Woody's wife can buy xmas gifts for all the kiddies. Incredible what's going on here. One of these days the media will wake up and see what I have been saying
Actually I think he knew when he went thru the wait list that he would never/ever sell out the stadium if he charged UD PSLs
RT @SethWalderNYDN Jets cut LB Bryan Thomas again signed Donnie Fletcher from the practice squad. #nyj Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN Bryan Thomas' past 6 days: On team. Cut. "Pissed". Re-signed. Practiced. Cut. #nyj
random woody news.. he was part of the group of owners that wanted to play hardball with the refs this past tuesday. why woody why..
Apparently Woody and Richardson (from Carolina) were two of the strongest supporters of the hardball negotiations Goodell and most of the other owners wanted to stick with until last Monday. If you're ever in a group with Richardson, you're probably doing something wrong.
