This is just not true. There are several teams in the NFL that have been elite for a decade or more with occasional off-seasons. This has been true for the Patriots, Steelers and Ravens in the AFC and for the Packers in the NFC.

The Ravens have won double-digit games with 6 different QB's starting for them since 2000.

The Jets have not had an elite squad in any season since 1998. The best were 2004 and 2010 and both of those teams were a notch below the elite teams that dominate the NFL.

Even if we do squeak in at 9-7, this team won't be a force in the playoffs. This isn't the Giants or Packers. There's no Eli Manning, Aaron Rodgers or at least pass rush.

meh, it's totally impossible to say that. All the Jets need to do is get in. We also have no idea how this team will look come that time of year.

Exactly - You watch REAL DEFENSE like SF swarm to the ball and hit the QB and wonder WTF rex is watching when he talks about how great he is and how this D is a top D....

Offense issues aside - this defense is what depresses me Revis or not.

And overall the talent level blows - Tanny must go.

+1 I'm willing to bet that we will have a new GM next offseason.

Coupled with the fact that we're implementing a new offense.

    FCOL...give it a couple weeks.

This is my only criticism of Ryan. He is to willing to allow a player prove themself. Powell is most definately the better starting back, and Greene is a closer.

Sanchez has played well all year. He has shown progress from last year, and only stat watchers are the ones who are knocking him. Sanchez has missed some key throws, and I will agree he needs to get much better here. I almost threw my TV when I saw him miss 2 wide open touchdowns last week. One to Schilens, and one to Hill down the right sideline. He missed that first throw to Kerley in the first drive, but I didn't take notes on every play. Sanchez is not the problem, and I am not a Sanchez lover.

Again, I crticize Ryan for sticking with players that aren't cutting it. Scott has played pretty poorly, imo, and Pace is obsolete, also imo. Harris is playing out of his comfort zone to accomadate for the inadequecies. Moving to a 4-3 will help this team in both the run game, and the intermediate pass game.

I am really excited to see what Ryan can come up with without Revis. I believe he has used Revis as a crutch, and haven't gameplanned accordingly.

You have to remember where you are posting. 90% of fans are stat watchers, and don't watch the actual game or understand what they are watching.

Another useless darksider thread. Can we just stop this shit? We are 2-1 in first place. That's all that matters. We are ABOVE average right now. We are doing better than the Pats, Saints, Lions AND Packers. Look at the miserable games they played. Are our wins really that bad? We are above average at least. Don't forget we blew out the Bills to give them their only loss so far.

He left way too many points on the field, and that's a problem.
But forget that for a moment. The Jets were 6 of 17 on third down conversions.
That sucks...and that means that there's fewer shots at the end zone.

Snachez has to take advantage of these diminished opportunities.

Carpenter and Philbin were the reason we eked out a win.

    Keep grasping.

There's plenty of straws out there.

If that stops working for you, blame the replacement refs.

are there as many straws as games?

While I'm extremely critical of the roster management of the team, I'm not ready to write the team off just yet.

When we beat the 49ers Sunday does that mean this thread will be deleted?

And by the way, the Giants were no better than average for the entire 16 game schedule last season.

    Just sayin.

So what your saying is we won because the other team didn't perform well, but we didn't win by more because we played well?

Please not lets use the other team lost the game argument, because we did everything in our power to give the game away.

    Yep.

    Both teams suck.

We just sucked a little less.

Jets are 5th in the league on 3rd down conversion rate. Will see if this game is an aberration or a part of a trend

And the reason the game was close was becasue of self inflicted wounds too. This is the type of game we would lose last year. The Giants beat us in this type of game. Eli threw for under <40% that game I believe. Take the win and get out of Miami.

5th?...that's surprising...we looked horrible till the 4th qrtr.

Here's some more stats...we're dead last in pass completion percentage and
    29th in yards per rush.

I sure hope we get better quick...

Yeah. That's sad, huh? Makes it easier to be happy with mediocrity.
