Interested to see the sentiment in the forum. What game do you think will be Tebow's first start as Jets QB1?
Barring injury I just don't see it happening. I want tebow to get a shot at QB1 at some point as much as anyone, I just don't see it happening with the Jets. The coaches don't even know what to do with him as a gimmick sideshow...you think they could create an offense where he'd be successful as QB1?? I think not. And Mark's done nothing to loose his job yet.
I think Tebow's best bet is to try to look decent during next seasons pre-season if he looks like he has made strides someone might take a gamble.
Without injury to Sanchez, I say no earlier than week 14, and that's if Sanchez plays significantly worse than he is now. At this point, he's nowhere close to bad enough to warrant a QB change, and Tebow is nowhere close at this time to having shown he will be better than Sanchez for the Jets. His best shot, and it's not a good shot is with another team. I think if it doesn't happen here guys, he's done. Sanchez is similar to Orton on field, but he has similar support as Tom Brady from the coaching staff and players. Tebow is in a tough spot. As much of a fan of his as I am, I don't believe he should just be handed the QB1 spot unless an injury happens or he earns it through superior play.
The truth is, I've observed some weaknesses in the #1s that haven't been discussed either in these boards or in the media. At this point I won't be surprised at anything and am certainly not going to open a discussion about them. It would be inflammatory and would only be a pissing contest until more of the season plays itself out.
I agree. I think as long as Mark is winning games, he should be starting. There should be another option for that poll. Cause Tebow won't start unless Mark starts failing miserably or unless he gets hurt. And I don't wish any of that on him. But I would've liked to see Tebow be used more; especially to try and mount a comeback in the Steelers game. When Sanchez and his offense is not working.
The things that will get Tebow a shot as the starting QB: 1. Mark Sanchez gets hurt. 2. The Jets lose a bunch of games Sanchez starts (say falling to .333 win pct or less) 3. Sanchez loses the locker room without having the Jets collapse on the field. That's about it.
honestly, if the Jets don't find their running game before the bye, it isn't likely going to matter at all whether the QB can actually throw a professional pass or not, so they might as well go with Tebow at that point, if for no other reason than to save Sanchez the wear.
Poll assumes there is no injury. I don't want to introduce speculation of a Sanchez injury into the poll... seems mean spirited.
Allright buddy, I'll back off you,,,, others? Not so much. Actually I agree with you. The best chance for the Jets is for Mark to be effective and for Tim to fill in the blanks. The options are limitless. I have begun to think Rex and Tony are getting a gripe on HOW. I don't know about anyone else but I am having a ball watching Jets games, even losing to Pitt. Because I thought everything wasn't left on the field, the Pitt loss sure pissed me off though. Go Jets!!!
