anyone who uses "skullduggery" in a post is okay by me just dont hear that word much anymore tomfoolery neither
Yeah, Woody made a mistake by handing this team to Tanny, who drafted the best CB in the league, and the best C. How many GMs can say that? Not many. Yes, he drafted a few busts too, but how many GMs can say that? Every.
Seriously, Sanchez gets too much of the blame here. He has receivers who have a hard time getting off the line. His protections is weak. To top it off, when Sanchez makes a big throw, his receivers drop the ball. All three weeks Sanchez made some nice throws only to be dropped by his receivers, even in the first game. At least two TD passes have been dropped by Hill. And at least another 10 passes were dropped all around. Yes, he made some bad throws as well, but every QB makes those. He's under pressure immediately after the snap. Thats been going on for the last 19 games now. If anything, the OL needs a redo, and same for our LB corps. Sanchez is not a top 5 QB of course. But certainly better than the bottom half. When his receivers started to catch balls, he was pretty efficient in the second half of the game against Dolphins. I showed where Sanchez should have had over a 100 QB rating if his receivers dropped no more than 3 catches against Steelers out of the 9 they dropped. And he showed that when his receivers drop no less than 3 passes, he actually has a good day (1st week).
Disregarding the Revis injury... The Jets are 2-1 with 2 road games and 2 divisional games. As ugly as the last 2 games have been, I don't see how anyone could say we were a bad team. Not that good? Yeah. Mediocre? Sure. Bad offense? Absolutely. But the defense, while certainly not a shutdown unit, was still one of the better ones in the NFL. Take away Revis, and "bad" is a distinct possibility.
you know what i think, i think youre all fucked in the head. id hate to see what this board would have looked like if we had lost...
The Jets may be what we thought they were but who thought the rest of the league might actually suck more than the Jets? The NFL has turned parity into parody and we just might be getting the last laugh.
I gotta say, I think we need to let these next two weeks play out , 49er's and Texans and see how this current unit handles those without Revis. If we don't get blown of the field and manage to hold our own, dare I say even win one, we may have a shot at a decent season. Yet, it is clear this coming offseason Some serious decisions are going to have to be made. As of right now, it's time for Rex to start holding players accountable for there level of play and stop holding there hand. I know he loves these guys and that is commendable but seems to me it's time to put the carrot down and reach for the stick. Just a few ideas for the next few games. Enough with the wildcat crap TT is not an NFL QB and does not work well under center in this offense. Time to see if Mark is the long term answer. It is time for him to step up all the way or time for him to hit the bricks We need to see more of these players, Powell, McKnight, Davis, Sapp (when he is ready) Vlad, and any other young player with potential in game action. With Revis done for the season Wilson is a player who must prove his worth or he too should be looking at the door. I think about it sometimes and wonder if Westy would have made a better choice for H/C for the Jets. No doubt he would have cut a few of these veterans right on the field !
im not surprised at all....I had them at about 8-9 wins. Everyone is still stuck on the 2009 2010 seasons. We had WAY more talent then... TJones, Woody, Faneca, Richardson, Edwards, JCotch, a younger B Scott, etc etc Ive been saying this look at Sanchez's weapons for christs sake, Holmes, Kerley, Hill, Greene? Who the fuck could produce with that lineup? In 2010 he had Edwards, Holmes, JCo, LT Fact is we have some talent BUT we are not that talented. And much of it can be blame direectly on the recent draft picks. Wilson - eh disappointment so far Vlad - Sucks balls McKnight - see Vlad Conner - fading fast that entire 2010 draft was shit As Ive said before people need to live in the now. Our window was in 2009 and 2010 and we missed it.
I talked to a fish fan about the game yesterday. I am sure his viewpoint is pretty much standard for their fanbase. Their view is that their kicker lost the game for them. A game where their rookie Qb looked no worse and sometimes better than Sanchez. A game where their best player went out in the first half, and the subs were able to hold their end up. Sure they don't have jack at receiver other than Hartline and Fasano, and Hartline was held to one (albeit very) good play. Their D shut down the Jet running game, and were it not for Landry's first pick six ever, the game would not have even needed their kicker to win it for them. They faced the Jets on first and goal from the one and did not have a point scored on them. I mean really, how can you look at the final outcome of that game as anything but a gift from an inept Miami team that actually outplayed the Jets most of the game? If we were their fans, we'd all be screaming, and rightly so, that we need a new field goal kicker. We'd be talking about how Landry victimized our rookie Qb, but that's to be expected. And I could not disagree with this Miami fan's take on the game. Can anybody else? Losing Revis for the season just added a kick in the balls to what was already a bad case of indigestion. Yeah, you always take the win and go on to the next game, but anyone who feels optimistic about the 2-1 record is delusional.
If they were 3-O and Revis were still healthy, you'd be making your Super Bowl reservations by now, so you can flush that nonsense homer crap down the toilet.
I'd be much happier if TT can transition into a TE. I think he'd be a top TE in the league - big fast, good blocker, etc. If you can't see that Mark has improved from last year you are just too biased against him. There's a marked improvement in his play. At least 1/2 of his incompletions are on the receivers. And that has to be expected with 2 rookie wide outs, a sophomore, and 2 vets, one of which has seen the field less than our sophomore thanks to injury. I think the Oline still needs improving. Mangold is Mangold and everyone else needs to step up, even Brick. TE's are Meh after Keller. Cumberland looks like he has potential. I think Tebow could be a 1 or 2 TE. Our LBs need help but I think Harris and Scott are still better than average players. Pace and Thomas are done. We need the Rooks & Sophomores to Step up. Ellis, Wilkerson, Coples need to elevate their game, and in a hurry. If Landry stays healthy - and stops getting stupid peanalties, he and Bell will be good for this team. I'm comfortable with Cro & Wilson. Its the nickle & Dimes that have me concerned - Lankster & Trufant worry me on the backend.
I think this 3 game home stand will show a lot about what kind of team we have. Its no secret that winning games on the road in the NFL is tough especially divisional games. Our 1 home game of the year though we were really firing on all cylinders. I want to see if that first game was an aberration or if we are just that much better of a home team. Remember we were 6-2 at home last year. We are 1-0 in convincing fashion at home this year. Im not going to pronounce us dead until we start to really struggle at home.
Well, I could disagree with Miami fans just for the hell of it... In all seriousness however, this was a scary game and by all rights we should've lost it. Yes, their kicker cost them a W. That said, it was also Jets D that finally stopped Miami 30 yards away. I agree with you that the rest of the season looks quite grim right now. I think this is because of DR injury first and foremost. DR is the equalizer, with him on the field Jets are rarely too far away, & have a shot. Without him I don't have faith that we can stop opponents. I have hope though that other guys will pick up, that coaches will adjust. Does this make me a homer too?
agreed, we need to find out what we do well and build off of that... because right now, there isnt one thing you can point to on the field and say "we do that consistently well." even with revis, we werent going anywhere. it would have come down to luck and tiebreakers if we were going to make the playoffs. find out if mark makes the necessary improvements without shotty, if he can great, if not, move on. get rid of every single linebacker in the offseaosn, continue to build the lines and go from there
Yep, the Jets are who we thought they were. In first place in the division, at 2-1, and 2-0 in the division with wins over the Bills and phins, who are both better this year. I understand you are pessimistic about the offense and every thing else, but C'MON MAN!!!! EVERY TEAM has struggles. Did you watch Aaron friggin Rodgers stink up the joint last night? Sanchez had a better game. Did you see that pick Eli threw 2 weeks back. It was worse than any pick Sanchez has ever thrown. Everyone gives the Jets and Sanchez a ridiculously hard time because they over analyze everything. That's just the way football works. There is a lot of variance in the game, but other teams make similar mistakes. Other QBs, even elite ones, struggle. You can't control everything. Packers are 1-2. Patriots are 1-2. Lions are 1-2. The Saints are 0-3! But all people can talk about is the Jets sucking, yet they're in first. It's absolutely ridiculous. Take your pessimistic whining and go join a Pats forum so you can agree with them about everything. Somebody please call the wambulance for this guy.
Aside from winning 2 of 3, you can't honestly look at the last two games and say there was anything positive. Poor run defense, poor tackling, poor catching, poor running, poor throwing. A glimpse of good here and there, then nothing for 3 quarters. I haven't given up all hope of a WC spot, simply because the rest of the AFC hasn't been great either. These other teams you mention are struggling, but they are proven solid teams, we are yet to prove anything. The Pats, Saints and Packers could easily roll off 12 wins in a row. The Jets? I don't think so.
The bolded part is the main goal, the main focus, of this season going forward. I would have left out the Schotty reference, but still. Yeah, there will be other things going on, but this is the main thing. It even goes so far as saying we can look more at the O separate from the final scores and the standings, not because what the D does is irrelevant. Instead it is more about offensive production than getting in the playoffs, which at this point seems a dream more than a realistic prospect. But it is certainly not the case that nothing important remains for this season. I plan on following the team as much as before, with less hope and optimism, but still seeing how well they do. We all should.
