do you guys really believe Aaron Rodgers could come into this O and start throwing up gaudy numbers, I highly doubt it, he's doing the best with the talent he has.
Sanchez played terrible on Sunday, I don't care who his weapons are. He was terribly off target for most of the game and was lucky to not throw a couple more INT's.
And at the end of the game he made the throws he needed to. he was far from perfect, but he was great when he needed to be.
he was also unlucky to have so many passes dropped, have no running game, OL protection issues and not all of the bad throws were his fault. That one to Cumberland in the EZ was an amazing play to avoid the sack and give the Jets another chance to score w/o losing a bunch of yards. The pass to Schilens was off by an inch, just b/c some passes were incomplete doesn't mean they were his fault. He had a bunch of bad moments but he had a bunch of really good moments too including leading the drive to take the lead in the final minutes(only to watch the D blow it as usual) then lead us to chip shot FG range for Folk.
Yes, you have to credit him for getting the job done at the end of the game, but his performance prior to the end of the 4th quarter was absolutely miserable. I like Sanchez but the excuses are absolutely ridiculous. He played awful - one of his worst games as a pro prior to the end of the 4th quarter. He was lucky he didn't single handedly lose that game for us with several more throws that could have been INT's. I don't know how anyone can try and defend such terrible play. Hopefully they can get back to playing well on offense with a home game this weekend.
I disagree, he wasn't nearly as bad as it was made out. He had no run game, his Ol was leaky, his receivers were dropping passes all over the place. call those excuses all you want, I call them facts. If his receivers could catch we would have been comfortably ahead. and as boneheaded as his EZ INT was it sure didn't help bringing Tebow in to go from 2nd and G from the 2 to 3rd and G from the 7 making it an almost impossible spot to convert.
It's everyone else's fault but you're not making excuses. Got it. Sanchez played well and was brought down by the terrible play around him. Thanks for setting me straight.
I didn't say it was everyone else's fault but it wasn't all Mark's fault which you are and many on here are saying.
The EZ INT was partially on Cumberland for not running his route correctly and allowing his cover man to drop deep into the passing zone. Cumberland is supposed to stop his route before the endzone on the Smash-7 combo. He drove it to far which allowed the DB to be in position to make a play on the ball. it was a lazy run route by Cumberland (maybe he didn't understand his responsibility).
To blame one player for the offensive woes is pretty absurd. We need a scapegoat though I suppose ... Schotty is gone, and so is Plaxico and Wayne Hunter. Sanchez is next in line SMH ...
It was all part of his plan after hearing so much about Tebow's 4th quarter comebacks. Dumb like a fox.
Sanchez doesn't pass the eye test. But his results are better than how he looks. That's the opposite of a lot of other quarterbacks who look awesome but don't generate the results. He's still young. He's still got time development. Everyone needs to step away from the ledge and let this kid develop... particularly in the new offense.
Cumberland has been a disaster so far as Keller's replacement. He's clueless out there. Another big body with great measurables and no football IQ to go along with it.
There's just no way. The Jets have pissed away Sanchez developmental years. He either has to get it now, with very little help, or he's going to be gone and with him the last chance the Jets have for a Super Bowl before they tear it all up and start over. The Revis injury did one very positive thing for the Jets: it's blown away all the smoke and mirrors to expose the fact that the Jets really have very few topflight players on the roster. Sanchez is not a particularly good player right now but he's still the Jets 4th or 5th best, and might be higher than that.
1) He's still only 25 years old. He's still got plenty of time to develop. 2) He's going nowhere next year or the year after due to his contract. He's got through the 2014-2015 season to put it together.
i give you the rest but his pocket awareness was great on sunday ... he was constantly stepping up and/or side stepping the rush
he stayed in it, and played well... credit him for that. and he hung in there all game despite poor routes and shoddy protection. that said, still very very inconsistent. left way to many plays on the field
I didn't say it was all Marks fault. Mark was just the worst player on the field (except maybe eric smith) until about 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter on Sunday. Obviously there were other issues, but to try and blame everyone else for Sanchez playing awful is a joke.
