Rex drafted Sanchez his first year to get his franchise QB, but has failed to put enough quality playmakers around him. Rex is a defensive coach and has drafted defense with the last 3 first Rd picks and don't expect it to be any different next April. We haven't had a quality RB since Thomas Jones left, LT was just a stop gap. Shonn Greene seems to give up on plays, he's not the "tough" hard nose runner we all expected. I would like to see more Powell, he shows some promise. Kerley is a perfect slot player, yesterday's TD was a perfect example. We have a lot of holes on Offense.....A quality TE is needed, DW probably won't be back next year. A Right Tackle (OT), needs to be added, the jury is still out on Howard, although an improvement over Hunter. A RB that can be more versatile than Greene. A RB that can get out on the edge and also make catches out of the backfield.
I don't know. I don't like the idea of having both of the receivers on the field that struggle with press coverage. If both of them don't get out fast enough, Sanchez is left with just Keller or a back to throw to. I'd rather have a big guy out there with Holmes in 2 WR sets.
I'm beginning to suspect that Greene is not feature back material. Sure he's great in the 3rd and 4th quarters, but I think Shonn needs to be the change of pace guy to be utilized most successfully.
Rex was on board drafting Sanchez, they both agreed with the selection 100%. Don't kid yourself, Rex has a lot of influence on the draft picks. Tanny, IMO, gives in a lot.
i think that is true, however i also think that one condition of hiring ryan was that ryan had to agree to draft a QB early in his tenure. i know. pure conjecture. but whatever.
Mark Sanchez has always been able to get it done in crunch time. That was never the problem with him. The problem is his inability to get it done on a consistent basis.
You could be right, it's all speculation. It's not surprising a new HC wants his franchise QB. One thing I'm certain, Kellen Clemens wasn't the answer going into the 09 draft. I'm not defending Sanchez, he's not perfect, but in a lot of instances, as a mentioned earlier, he hasn't had the tools to help him be more successful. I still believe Sanchez can be a solid NFL QB, not elite, but a level just below elite.
How convinient to leave out the part where the WR dropped sure touchdowns, major first downs, etc etc. If Hill catches that one in the end zone there would not be a need for a come back. Nice try though While the QB is a key piece of the puzzle it is still a team effort. Yesterday the defense did not play well enough win
Know who else played mediocre for a good portion of the game only to lead comeback wins in the end: John Elway. Just Sayin'
Playing like shit goes all around -- aside from Holmes know one is able to get off bump and run coverage. Cumberland was a non factor and they won't use mcknight so there is no threat out of the backfield to catch. What they need to do is forget tebow as an H back - use mcknight in that role and force the defense to commit a guy to him. So many bad routes yesterday it was sickening
... this is very true ... when the spotlight is on has often been sanchez's best moments ... ... he certainly needs to play that way all the time ... rather than a game here then not ... then for two games ... then off for two, etc. ... ... that being said, he can't catch the balls himself ... cumberland, hill & (besides holmes/kerley) every other wr/te/rb have to help him out more with catching the ball better ... l_j_r
and if Hill doesn't drop a TD, the rest of the receivers drop a ton of balls, the D didn't get run on all day and beat up by a rookie QB w/ no weapons in the pass game then we wouldn't have needed a comeback.
