Im usually pretty optimistic when it comes to the Jets, but im not exactly oozing exuberance and joy right now for obvious reasons. It also doesn't help that we have 2 brutal opponents back to back that can send us reeling if we don't correct some obvious flaws on this team. At least these next 2 are at home, and we get the 49ers traveling cross country for a 1pm game, we know the significance of these kinds of games. But I do believe if we can somehow, someway manage to squeeze out one of these next 2 games, with a weaker AFC this year and our schedule relaxing a bit, we MAY be able to squeeze into the postseason *fingers crossed* So, does anyone envision us possibly beating San Fran or Houston? Are there any favorable matchups that we may exploit, will home field advantage matter much going against these juggernauts?
Obviously. The Jets can even win both. They are at home. Key is obvious: Offense needs to play better, defense needs to play better and secondary has to step up big without Revis. Pass rush too. The NFL has been so crazy this year, that the only way you can think the Jets have no shot, is if you are a SOJ fan.
We could win both of the next two. They're both home games, which gives us a significant advantage in terms of rest and preparation. They're both teams that rely heavily on the run, so if we can fix the run defense we could find ourselves in a low-scoring game. If the Jets spend all week trying to figure out how to replace Revis in the pass defense then we are so going to get blown out by the fact that we can't stop the run. Job one for the Jets right now is to fix the run defense. Nothing else compares to that in importance if the Jets want to have a successful season and a deep run in the playoffs.
Yes with Houston but that's only because I think Rex's defense can combat on Schaub. The defense has beaten out Schaub through 6 quarters of play vs him....until Schaub lit them up the final 2 two years back. I do think Keller HAS TO be back in that game, I think Keller vs Quin is a matchup in favor for us. I am also very skeptical of Kubiak as a coach still, gives off a Norv Turner esque vibe. Key is to be careful with turnovers....Houston thrives off of that. Miami played them very close until Tannehill had the INT barrage in the 3rd quarter that made the score seem uglier than what it was. I think Jets get up early on HOU, and takes out how many running plays Kubiak goes with and almost forces Schaub to throw in the air to try and comeback. Not confident at all vs SF though. Game has the makings of what we saw vs Green Bay 2 years ago....a defensive 1st game that may have a score of like 13-3 SF.
I actually think the Jets have a better chance against SF then Houston. Houston is too well rounded. If they don't have the best D in the league (which most say is SF's) they very might have one in the top 3 AND they have a pretty well-rounded offense. Good running game, passing attack etc. SF has a really good defense but just an average offense. I think it's going to be real tough on the Jets offense to score but if the Jets D can keep the game close, anything can happen.
One game at a time. San Fran is not a juggernaut. They just lost to Minnesota, and have many of the same issues that we do. Now they have to fly east to play us in our house. Give our team a chance before writing them off. Next week, we can talk about Houston.
I got a strong feeling we gonna bulldoze over you guys. Brady looks like he's declining bad and Mark is coming up. might be a passing the torch type of game
It's the NFL. Anything is possible. With that said and Revis out. At the end of week 5 were 2-3. I hope I'm wrong but well see
For some reason, the Pats D randomly gets up against us and only us. Thank god the immortal Andre Carter isn't in NE anymore. I think we split with NE this year. No way we blow them out though...better shot they blow us out in Foxboro.
I was just talking about Houston and SF. To be honest the Patriots/Jets contest is 4 weeks away which is like an eternity in the NFL. The Patriots HAVE to win in Buffalo next week or they'll have more to worry about the Jets. That said... Brady wasn't the problem yesterday. I don't know what game you were watching (Did you watch the game?) He engineered some excellent drives in that game to put 31 points up against an energized Ravens D and a REALLY hostile Baltimore crowd. They were doing fine untill the Oline couldn't handle the Ravens blitzing in the 4th quarter. If the Jets can get that type of pressure on the Brady, they'll have a chance. How is the Jet's pass rush. Defensively the Patriots aren't as bad as they looked yesterday. Do you think Sanchez > Flacco? The Jets WRs > the Ravens WRs? Greene > Ray Rice? We'll know more about both teams in 4 weeks. I'll certainly be here for that discussion.
i got that date marked on my calendar. i do think sanchez is more talented than that stiff flacco i saw the game i thought the kick wasn't good btw but karma for spygate i hope u guys collect some wins so there's some hype and we go in as underdog. nothing in the world i like seeing more than mark with his back against the wall.
Stop the run!!!!!!! Thats the first thing that has to be done. Pouha and Devito need to step up in this category and not allow teams to run all over us. Thats going to help us immensely. After that I think we are going to need to play a little more 4-3 and try and get Coples and Mo the right matchups to be able to rush the passer. Obviously Coples was drafted to be a pass rusher, and Rex also stated that he envision's Big Mo as a Shaun Ellis type who can play both the 4-3 and 3-4 DE spot. Another Linebacker needs to step up and start generating a pass rush. This is why Maybin was retained. Last but not least our offense has to pick it up. They are going to be depended on more now.
Yes I think we take one of the two and I think SF is more likely. You guys had horrific clock management to end the game and your CB play was pretty bad last night. Also had poor clock management in the ARZ game too, but that's easier to look at in hindsight. If the Jets can get Tone going, the Jets can hang around. The way to disrupt Brady is to hit him earlier. Way easier said than done, especially without Revis on Llyod which would have been a fun matchup. If Hernandez is still out, it gives the Jets some hope. They send some blitzes and keep Gronk to chip or block before running a route it becomes DB vs WR instead of TE dominating us. All in all, 4 weeks is too long to even think what is going to happen, but barring injuries the general gameplan on how to beat each other will stay the same.
any give Sunday, The Jets will beat San Fran in a slug fest,if Keller is playing i think we can sneak away with a win
Frank Gore is a monster , they have a great OLine so our defense needs to get it back togather, Rex needs to get down to the x's and o's and come up with better scemes, because the one thing as Jet fans that we could always count on is that our Defense under Rex was always gonna be good, well this year they looked great in the preseason and against the Bills for the most part, now we will really see what this defense is made of with the loss of Revis, will find out who Kyle Wilson really is thats for sure
1. Assassinate Jim Harbaugh, Fangio and Roman triplet. Jets cannot lose Niners game. 2. Same with Texans. Take out Kubiak and Phillips doublet. That's all there is to it, guys.
