I think it's apparent that with the line the way it's playing Greene simply is being outplayed by Powell. Powell is just faster, shiftier, and doesn't get stopped for minimal / negative yardage as much as Greene. The difference between the two is getting more apparent as time goes on. It seems like more often than not Greene's carries are momentum killers.

So you're agreeing with me? Because that is my point. You could put an amazing QB behind a crap OL and what you'll end up with is a crap OL with an injured QB or you could put a QB like Sanchez behind a top flight OL and he will likely perform at his maximum potential.

I get the distinct impression that you read a couple sentences of my post, highlighted one, and decided that you know what I wrote. Except that your reply seems to indicate that you are agreeing with me while attempting to disagree.

The only point I can see that you are making where you might be disagreeing is if you are arguing that the QB makes the OL and, hence, a good QB makes a good OL and a bad QB makes a bad OL. If you are making that argument then all I will say is that Wayne Hunter must feel mighty relieved right now knowing that getting knocked on his ass all those times was Sanchez's fault. :)

I am not disagreeing - I threw the bone (not at you) because I know the answer already; such QB (= trash QB with top-of-the-line OL) does not exist.

And that's one of the reasons as to why I prefer drafting OL high, and RB low, instead of doing it the other way.

Last, but not the least, T-Bomb does not agree with you. (Or me for that matter.)

    B. Powel >>>> S. Green

WTF does S. Green do anyway, besides NOT follow blocks?! Its infuriating, you can see the frustratino on the O-linemen also.. they get a great pull on one play with B. Moore and fcking S. green just plows right in the middle for no gain...

When Powel comes in I feel like he almost always generates positive yards, he seems to always get 1 or 2 more when you think he's down for sure, and he's definitely got better moves than S. Greene.

I think we could see that his playing time is going up, and I think he should be the starter for sure, S. Green is so average its just ridiculous to try to deny he is anything more than that.

Agreed I think O-Line should be drafted at least every other year within the 1st 3 rounds

we do shit half way backwards though. We drafted Slauson in the 6th and Ducasse in the 2nd who's starting again. We need a better scout team

    Powell, 4 carries 18 yards = 4.5 YPC
    Greene, 8 carries 26 yards = 3.25 YPC

Even McKnight would probably look better than Greene. At least give him and Powell a chance, not 2 or 3 carries a game.

Sounds good. Greene seems to be a good closer, but that's about it.

You don't even need the stats - just watch the 2 of them when they get the handoff - I think Greene is seriously lacking confidence. Som of the blame for the 2.7 ypc has to go to our mediocre line but he is so incredibly hesistant when he gets the ball, it's as if he's expecting to get dropped in the backfield every time. Powell actually accelerates and hits the line with a bit of purpose - even if he too appears fairly unspectacular in the open field. I wish Shonn Greene could start his carries with as much purpose as he finishes on defenders but for now we have to see what Powells got! Please Rex

Greene had one good run tonight that caught me completely by surprise. I mean, he took the handoff, made an actual cut in the backfield and took the ball off right tackle for a nice pickup.

If he ran like that all the time, I wouldn't have a problem with him.

Greene is like a sack of potatoes. I am all for the change. Change at RB of course.

They had 12 carries last night -- even the coaching staff is giving up on the run.

The next two weeks they will face teams they can run the ball on so Tebow might see more action and have more success. Would like to see more Powell than Greene.

Miami is hard to run on.

Will Powell take over at RB for the Jets? He seems to be more explosive and versatile than Greene.

Not likely. He seems a bit more shifty but not explosive. He is a nice backup.

I don't even consider Greene average, tbh. I'm very satisfied with what I've seen from Powell though. Seems somewhat dodgy and as said gets another 1-2 yrds when going down. At least he doesn't take 2 seconds to even get started running, just to smash right into one of his own guy in the OL - or simply tilting forward and falling over on his own.

My favourite pet peeve moment is watching Greene after he's been tackled in the secondary after 5+ yrd runs, when he slaps on the ball with both hands, trying to convince us "awww, I was just inches away from breaking free".

    No. You weren't.

We saw after Greene fumbled in the last game Rex let Powell take the majority of the carries after. I wonder if there is a switch considering this is a contract year for Greene.

I loved Shonn out of Iowa, but Powell is playing better, the jets need a blue chip RB, a pass rushing LB, and an OT out of this off season. Bring in Plax as a possession receiver then draft for depth.
