I'm sorry but truthfully this could have caused Sanchez a concussion. He probably would have to be carried off the field knowing Tebow is in the wing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTdgtc2j_v4&t=45s
Some people go too high on Sanchez, and others go too low. The truth is somewhere in between. Sanchez has been quite average over his career. Glorify playoff wins all you want (I can't blame you), but Sanchez is at his best when the Jets can play defense and run the ball. This sets up the play action, and then they can take their shots when they can. Everyone has seen him make clutch throws, but I wouldn't brand him the type of fella that can take over a game, shoulder the load, or will his team to victory...he's more of a game manager type, or at least the Jets are better as a team when they can afford the luxury of putting him in that role. This is my opinion. We'll see how it all turns out and if Sanchez can take the next step in his development. I don't care who dropped what ball, there are accuracy concerns historically.
That looked more like it would hurt his neck than his head. His head twisted to the side fast! I just hope and pray he didn't hurt his neck again. That would be devastating.
You hit on what I think is a major problem in the NFL right now, and has been for a few years - a team's success or failure depends way too much on one player. Take any team in the league - if the starting QB goes down in the first game, the season is pretty much over. (unless you're that lucky fuck Belichek and have a hall of famer on the bench, which happens once in a lifetime.) Remember when Vinny went down in the first game in 99? Its one of the reasons I've gotten more into college football the last few years - a team can lose its qb and still compete. I don't know how the pros can address this, but they have to find away to take all that weight off the qb, without constantly forming rules to try and keep qbs healthy.
considering where we took sanchez and the hopes we had for him to be our franchise qb for years to come, and the money he is making, average is basically a bust in my mind. yeah its a harsh assessment but thats the way i feel
Saying he's bust is a gross exaggeration. Ghoston was a bust. Take a look back in the draft from the year we drafted ms. Who should we have drafted with the 5th pick that would have turned out better? Since Rex has got here he has tried to recreate the Ravens. The drafting, play calling has been about defense 1st. Our defense and running is no longer dominant and we are left with a neglected, conservative offense that of recent has been jazzed up here and there. Sanchez is just one player in this hog pog offense.
Sanchez is 5th in the league right now in Total QBR. Tom Brady? 23rd. I'm beginning to think Mark Sanchez is a lot like Tom Brady. Focused and determined... but one big hit and he's out of the game. Sanchez has been better with turnovers thus far. This will be the most critical thing.
I was thinking the same thing. I bcame a jets fan in 1981. Except for the excitement brought by the new York sack exchange, most of those first 15 years were an exercise in futility and blown expectations culminating with the amazing coaching years of the Kotite era. OTOH, the last 15 years we have been to 3 AFC championship games and, if not for insanely bad luck with Testaverde, were frontrunners for another. That's actually pretty damn good. In fact, the only thing the jets haven't managed in this period is to make a SB (preferably winning it).
25 years of band-aids at the QB position, sans one drafted and groomed QB from Marshall, who was unfortunately made of glass has given many of us the patience to see this project through.
As someone said before, he's a good QB when everything around him his soft and warm and cuddly. He's a game manager. That's what he is, and when everything is perfect around him he can excel at it. That was proven in 2009 and 2010. If everything isn't perfect and he has to carry the offense/team, well, then we're screwed. Hopefully some of these young guys develop as the season goes on and quickly.
That's what the 49ers did and now they look like the best team in the league. And it's funny how Alex Smith started playing well when the rest of the team started playing well.
I would give him a little more credit. A game manager who can win games late. Can't carry a team for a whole game like elite QBs. There's a really good article, http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7218353/quarterbacking-made-simple, about some changes Harbaugh made. In addition to changing the team to help Alex Smith, he changed the offense a lot too. I think what Sparano is trying can help Sanchez, if Hill makes some big strides as a rookie. I like letting Sanchez go deep multiple times a game and throw it up. Hill is big enough, and Tone skilled enough to make tough catches. It should theoretically open up underneath stuff for him.We will see if we can execute that type of offense with out players though. The run game needs to get a little better so we aren't in 3rd and long quite a bit.
what the hell? as a giants fan i am embarrasssed that any other gman fan would bring up sanchez's ethnicity in such a stupid and derogatory way
. Sanchez was the last person to blame for the loss last week. There was at least a 100 yards left on the field. Yeah he overthrew Tone and Kerley I think once each, on plays that would have make a difference but the 3+ dropped balls Tone had would have also made a difference. Sanchez played a decent game if those balls were caugh. He kept his composure in the pocket, extended plays, didn't make many mistakes, and threw good enough to win the game if Tones passes weren't dropped, cumberlsnds dumb ass turns around on the most obvious blitz in the world, and even tho the D played a good game, I'm disappointed they didn't get a Stop in the 4th while Ben drained 10+ minutes to go ahead and get a TD. Like I said I'm happy with Sanchez and with the Defense. Tone, catch the effin ball, and we need Revis and Keller back ASAP.
He's obviously a Teblow groupie. A jets fan since 3/12. Stop it. Hes Post is about trashing Sanchez while being glad Tebow is here And asking for change. Don't waste your time. All my friends Are giants fans and they've never said "your Mexican QB" they talk a lot of shit, lol, but never about his ethnicity.
