I could see the Jets losing this one even though they are the better team. Its really tough to win in South Florida in September... the heat will be a factor... I think it will be an ugly defensive battle though, because Tannehill will REALLY struggle in his first game against Rex's defense. I expect an ugly, low scoring game. A key will be stopping screen passes. I think Miami will try to run a lot of screens to get Bush in open space and take pressure off the Kid. If the Jets D line can recognize when its a screen pass and get their hands up the Defense will be fine. Hopefully the offense can get back to what was working vs. Buffalo though. Go Jets. I hate the Dolfags so much!
I think the Jets will win this one because they've got a gun to their head now after that horrific game against the Steelers. As usual the only time this team performs is when it has a gun to it's head.
First off, like I said, it's relative to the talent on the field. Talent trumps the weather here. But when we had Marino, we kicked butt at home in Sept./Oct., and even before we started this downward trend in '04 we did, even w/ Fielder. But to answer your question, from 2002-2008 (before Ross put the Kabash on the 1 p.m. Sept/October starts), our home records were: September: 7-7 Sept./Oct: 9-13 Now, this is my point about talent. These records include two incredibly bad years, 2004, when we started 0-6 on the way to 4-12, and then 2007, when we lost our first 13 on the way to 1-15. No amount of heat was going to save those teams. Take those two years away, you get: September: 7-3 Sept./Oct: 9-7 Not bad, considering even in those years, we didn't have great teams. Even in our comeback year of '08, most of that work was done in the second half of the season. No, when you take a look at '95-'01, we were a whopping 21-5 at home in September and October. None of those teams were off the charts great, but we had solid squads that were able to outlast opponents in the hot SoFla months. More importantly, in 2012, we're ..... 1-0 Will it affect the Jets Sunday? Probably, a little. Will it matter? Not all that likely, but we'll see!

I think it goes without saying that our receivers have to be better than last week. We let the Steelers off the hook, with how soft we played offensively. It was a damn joke.
Yes, because - again - my point about the weather is, it is trumped by talent level. And in recent years, our talent level wasn't what it was through 2003. In those years when we were good, our home record was always better in Sept/Oct than it was in Nov/Dec. Was a point of pain for Dolfans, actually. Start off hot, end not all that hot. In our really bad years, my point is, the weather had no affect, as the team was too awful to take advantage. When they can take advantage, it matters! Talent level this year is mixed. Our O-line is decent, our D-line is excellent. Our LBs are about average (Dansby should be better but isn't). Our DBs are below average now, but could be worse. QB is good, but extremely raw, so that trumps that. RBs are above average, and WRs are below. It's enough talent to beat a team like Oakland into the ground in the hot weather, but not necessarily the Jets if the Jets really come to play.
I don't mean to come off like an asshole but you are completely overrating the Dolphin's talent. D line is good. LBs are average. Dbs are terrible. All in all its a pretty solid D though. On offense your WRs are worst in the league. Worse than ours and thats difficult. Fasano is a pretty good TE. RB is Reggie Bush who has looked great and seemed to find himself in Miami. O line is Ok to good because Long is such a good LT. Really though its not that good of an O line. To say Tannehill is good is just not true. He is raw yes and will he be good some day I think so. Right now though he is just not good. He had a pretty good game against a Raiders D which absolutely sucks. Against a good D like Houston he looked awful. Dolphins are in rebuild though. If they can put talent around Tannehill while he gains experience they can have a good future. Right now though I see a bottom of the barrel team.
I want this win. I hope we can win big. Not some type of 21-17 game or something. Fuck that. If we have a chance run the damn score up. :finssuck:
Provided we have Revis Thomas and Keller, there is one name that worries me. Reggie Bush. So far our biggest weakness on defense has been stopping the run. His production will be the X factor in this game. If we stop the run and force Tannehill to pass we can force turnovers. That's something we failed at last game. I expect the Dolphins to play us hard, but I expect the Jets to bounce back and put a hurting on them.
I honestly have never disliked the Dolphins the way I now dislike the Patriots. It's borderline hatred for that bunch of bastards. In some ways that is a compliment, of course - all the success they have had against the Jets makes every win against them all the sweeter. What bugs me more than anything is that every team in the division has had their time being 'the beast in the east' during my time as a fan (1983 onwards). First it was the Dolphins, then the Bills, now the Patriots. The Jets have never been on top long enough to earn that title. Back to this week's game, though - there is something special about Jets-Fins games and I expect another good one, but the Jets will pull themselves together and win. In bold: Isn't that what I said? Tannehill: Let me clarify, I think he'll be good, but who knows. My point was, even if he's a future HOFer, he's raw this Sunday. This Sunday, he's just a rookie in his third game. Our O-line just blocked for 260-plus yards, and has kept Tannehill upright for the most part. They are not all that bad, and you'll see as the year plays out. Our WRs are among the league's bottom five, but not sure they are the worst. That said, I haven't really examined the rest of the league's bottom feeders all that much. Bush is Bush.
Yea I was agreeing with you about the defense. I just don't think the offense has much talent at all. The only play maker is Bush. It is a new year so the jury is always out on O lines this early. Tannehill is raw but theres a difference between raw and good is what I was saying. Will he be good probably but he isn't right now.
there only playmaker is bush. our own playmaker is holmes. i dont think there is a huge difference. people are so overestimating the talent differential. we arent much better... luckily we are better in the positions it counts most. we wont blow them out
You are about to experience a horrible, horrible weekend....in football terms , of course. I predict 24-3 jets. I think our defense will wreak havok!
I think we are going to lose this game mainly because you guys will be able to bring pressure without blitzing. Especially since Sparano knows the weaknesses of 4/5ths of our o-line
