A few good plays doesn't make up for consistent mediocrity....people who won't admit the guy can't cut it seem to take one good play and act is if it wipes away all the awful plays...that's not logical.
So you expect him to take this helmet to helmet, which after he got up he was clearly woozy, probably even concussed, and then go 19/33 for 289 yards with receivers dropping balls and getting no separation. Yeah, all Mark's fault.
Sanchez will be at best Mediocre and that is not going to cut it in today's Nfl. The Jets Chased Big Ben all over the field on Sunday and he still found a way to make plays. Granted the Jets don't have the weapons of other teams but even if they did it would not make a difference. Sanchez is a 80 degree and Sunny Qb and you need somebody who can go and win a game at the QB position when everybody else plays bad.
Already at the road vs. Pittsburgh coming off a big loss to Denver and now coming back home for a home opener. That right there is enough for anyone to lose this game. He didnt get much help from anyone on the offensive side of the ball. Missed chances by the offense. Dropped passes, bad reads. How about everyone stop going crazy over one lost.
This thread's total b.s. - no way I'm laying this one on Sanchez. And that fuck who went "Harrison" on him gets a 15-yard penalty while the most important player/position gets his brains knocked for a loop? Looking at the head/neck twisting from that hit on the replay, it almost encourages taking the 15 yards considering the QB knockout reward. Holmes blowed, the D wore down, a lot of reasons. But Sanchez shouldn't be at the top of some blame game list. Besides, as LongTimeJetsFan asked: where was this Sanchez lynching last week?
Is it really that crazy to think he could have been concussed by that hit? 2012 pre-hit 23/32 72% 346 yards 4TD 1INT 2012 post-hit 6/22 27% 58 yards 0TD 0INT Seems a bit odd, doesn't it? He certainly looked like a completely different player.
If Sanchez WAS concussed then he should have come out, period. Whether he hid it or the coaches knew and hid it, it's a detriment to his long term health.
I am the OP. I did not say that “Sanchez lost the game”. I said every time he has a bad game the apologists make an excuse. This week it was he had a concussion – even though he never was checked for one – or never any mention of one at all. Green was immediately taken out of the game to check for a concussion. Revis missed the game because of one. Yet somehow everyone on the Jets sideline missed Marks concussion…except the apologists. It’s just an excuse. He didn’t have a concussion he was scared. And he had decent protection so he shouldn’t have been. Then there is this BS about not making a thread last week? WTF? I am a Jet fan like the rest. I want Mark to do well - and that’s become a problem. Because in his fourth season now I still have to ask “will Mark not suck today” before every game. Isn’t it getting a little old to still be worried every week if our QB will not deliver? How much proof to do people need? Even so I can live with Sanchez until a better solution comes along – but stop with the excuses. This thread alone contains all of the excuses I listed in the first post. It’s a team sport and it’s not all Marks fault. It’s also not all the WRs fault, or the running games fault, or the OC fault, etc. But Mark is supposed to be the leader and he handles the ball every play. Winning starts with him. So here we are in season 4. Another season where we will see promising rookie QBs around the league. Most of the rookie QBs that were drafted with Mark and since Mark that became starters have shown much more potential than Mark. Yet Mark makes more money so he must be our starter – otherwise we look stupid for paying him so much. That’s BS. If Mark doesn’t greatly improve this season IMO it’s time to put QB high on our draft list and cut bait with mediocrity. If Mark plays well next week I guess I should create a thread that says “hooray Mark Sanchez” for doing what he is paid so much to do. That doesn’t bother me though – the excuses we continually make for this guy bothers me.
I think Sanchez played poorly. I also think him being concussed is a reasonable scenario based on how he reacted to the hit and how he performed this year prior to the hit and after. Green was stumbling like a boxer after taking a big blow. There was no hiding the fact that he needed to be checked. Sanchez took a similarly brutal blow to the head but had a less subtle reaction and didn't need to walk back to the huddle. He was already in the general area. If he needed to get back to the huddle like Greene it may have been a much different story. You can bet your ass that the last thing he and the CS want is for him to come out of the game and for 15 to take a significant number snaps as a starter. They don't want it to come down to an independent league doctor either. It wouldn't shock me at all if they hid symptoms from people at all costs. Players can lie to avoid concussion tests. I don't like making excuses but I also don't think it's unreasonable to think Sanchez wasn't right in the head after that blow. Sanchez needs to play much better than he did Sunday.
thanks for posting that .... damn that was a massive hit...he could have broken his neck!! it changes my opinion after seeing it again.
Sanchez has a bad half after a viscous hit to the head you are calling for him to be benched already? Where is the common sense in this post. Lets give the give kid some props 6 quarters of great football 2 mediocre only one pick. Are we calling for the manning brothers to be benched they threw six picks between them. Even if you are not concussed take a hit to the head like had see how you react or quickly you think. Mark obviously does not have a glass jaw but it takes a while to recover from hit like that. Just look how greens performance dropped off after his hit to the head happens guys Mark is pretty damn tough. I predict a big game for him against the crappy corners of the dolphins. Then a tough game against the 49ers. You will be on here bashing Sanchez because of a tough game against the niners but then again a QB named Rodgers had a tough time against them also.
Sanchez played great week 1 and had a good first half against the Steelers. The receivers dropping every pass and getting 0 separation was a bigger problem then Sanchez. He had some bad throws and I'm not saying he played great but his receivers didn't pick him up at all.
and as some of us said. You don't post for a few weeks and then show up after a loss and dive right into being negative constantly. What is your excuse for being a useless troll?
