Yet #6 is on the cover of GQ and dating actress's? Ya good point. Its a good thing trusty ol #6 is a die hard mans player.
The 34 yds gained on two straight plays was the result of the Jets doing something unexpected and knocking the Steelers off balance with Wildcat AND no huddle play-calling, more than just Tebow' himself. Any effective wildcat QB would've gained those yards. The real problem was the bone-headed call of trying to get outside w/Shonn Greene (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) on the down where you knew Steelers would have their best chance to anticipate and stop the play On that first and ten, they should've gone conventional to keep Steelers off balance, (maybe go w/Greene between the tackles for 3 or 4) and return to a wildcat play later on. Tebow probably should've had the whole drive. Sanchez has to accept that his ineffective play would lead to that. On the other hand, assuming Tebow lead them to a score, Sanchez had to come back on the field for the next drive. Tebow has to accept that the wildcat is a change of pace. The wildcat at that time had some promise. The Jets shot themselves in the foot with a stupid play call. Then (in a frightening reminder of the Schotty days) they refused to go back to what was working. Not winning games... pretty soon that will lead to no sellin' seats, man
It has nothing to do with media consciousness. There wasn't much chance to use him. Can't have it both ways. In the first half they had 3 possessions not counting the give up at the end of the 1st half and the offense was in rythym. No reason to disrupt anything they were doing in the 1st half as they put together 2 real nice drives and the O played well so what was the point. After the first drive of the second half failed they brought him in for a couple of plays and it provided a spark. After the 6 yard loss at 2nd and 16 you can't do it again as 2nd and 16 is not a WC situation and the drive stalled. The D holds them but Kerley muffs it and then the next time they touch the ball the Jets are pinned deep in their own end needing 2 scores with time running out in the 3rd quarter. Santonio drops a couple of nice passes stalling the O and then Pitt held the ball practically the entire 4th quarter sealing it. Not much chance to use him
I think the 6 yard loss by Greene was a misread on Tebow's part. I'm pretty sure he has the option to read the D and pull that ball back as this is what the read option offense is all about. He handed it off instead but had alot of room to his left and it could have been a big play. The D sold out on Greene getting that ball.
What nonsense Of course I could remind you that the Broncos with Tebow at QB defeated the Steelers, who the Jets just lost to. But I'm sure you'd say there was some confluence of luckiness and other crap that means Tebow was not a team player who contributed to that win.
I've looked at the video again -- he made the right read. The "read" he makes on that play is not "where does it look like the ball should go?" He looks on a keyed player, and reads whether he crashes down or stays home. The right end stayed home on that play -- locked up with a blocker and maintained contain. So there was a numerical advantage to the right. The play was made because the blocker missed. It happens -- not every run springs free. But the "read" in "read option" is not "read the future." It's "read the number of blockers vs. defenders."
Play McElroy for all I care. Whoever can produce wins should be the starter. I would however replace Greene with Powell or Tebow because either is better than Shonn.
Not nearly the same steelers team. All the injuries, being in Denver = no Ryan Clark. If we played a Big Ben with one good leg we would have gotten those 6 other sacks.
