I don't know what Sanchez said but I noticed the same thing - after that miss they didn't look for Hill for the rest of the ENTIRE fucking game. Not exactly the way to instill confidence in your rookie WR after one drop. After the game he had last week they should have made some type of effort to at least get the ball in his hands and boost his confidence. Not sure if that's on Sparano or Sanchez but I was pissed off all game watching him be a complete non-factor while Holmes muffed passes all day.
Holmes going back to Pittsburgh affected the game plan. Mark went out of his way to try and get him the ball. Last week they spread the ball around much better. I give Hill a pass on the drop. It's tough to catch that ball when your arm is grabbed. They had to make Captain example happy.
You're right, it would have been an outstanding catch, but the defender broke up the play, interference or not.. I can't fault Hill today, you can't make plays if he's only throw the ball once his way. I've never viewed Holmes as a #1 receiver. Holmes needs the ball in space to make plays, not thrown into tight coverage .
I believe Kerley was targeted once as well. Did Schilens even play? I'd like to know what percentage of passes were thrown to Holmes today - seemed like about 95% - what the fuck was going on?
What happened was we played a very good secondary with a very good coach. Now this is just me assuming but, since the Steelers like to blitz a lot I'm guessing they were blitzing while having Hill and Holmes in single coverage. I think Sanchez just went to the TE's or Holmes in this situation since they were the easier targets to hit. I'm not worried about Hill's performance, he'll have plenty of chances to prove himself against the Texans and 49ers.
This is what it seemed like and neither Hill nor Holmes won their 1 vs 1 matchups. They couldn't beat the corners in time. Neither were on the same page as Sanchez where Sanchez could just throw up a jump ball or something like that
Cool - so the team wanted to get the ball to Holmes so he could "get revenge" on the Steelers or something? Glad they could cater to his selfish wants and he responded in such great fashion. No way should this type of thing ever be a part of the teams plan. SMH. The goal is to win the fucking game, not make someone happy. I really dislike Holmes. When he's making plays it's easy to overlook. When he's dropping nearly everything coming his way it's really annoying.
I wanted us to pay Braylon instead because Braylon makes plays in tough spots where as Holmes makes plays when their easy (minus his great SB GW TD reception). Holmes is a game breaker and can be lethal when he has the ball in space, but in 2010 Braylon opened up a lot of those opportunities. Plus, Braylon is a much better teammate - from what I can tell.
