We don't have anything to worry about right now. We missed Revis today bad. If we need to worry after a lost to a good Steeler team then the Pats should be in a panic after a lose at home to the sorry Cards.
I've said before that when I saw that game on the schedule I wrote it off as a loss to begin with so I can't really be that upset. Still, I feel like we should have capitalized on an injured Steelers team, despite our own injuries.
Midway through 2nd quarter, Jets gave up. Looks to me like the sign of a poorly disciplined team with no guts.
I agree with the OP, but to say we played them tough most of the game is a bit of a stretch. First half maybe. Just like people overreacted (positively) to the Bills win, people will overreact (negatively) to this loss. Especially because no matter how skeptical we as fans were (myself included), we wanted to believe the Jets are as good as they were last week. Still though, after 2 weeks it's not time to make any sweeping statements. There are good teams out there that are 1-1 or worse. there's still plenty of season left for it to get better or worse.
All the bitching will be over come Friday when we shift our focus to the Dolphags and their rookie QB
This was the most disappointing part. If we can beat the dolphins then either Houston or San Fran and come out 3-2 Ill be happy.
It wasn't like the Steelers trashed the Jets 45-3. As poorly as the Jets played, they were still in it being only down by 10. As average as the defense played they did just enough to keep the game close, but the offense and special teams (muffed punt) couldn't do anything.
It was one bad game for the Jets against a very good Steelers team. As it stands now, everyone in the AFC East is 1-1 so the Jets are fine.
Yep. Sanchez looked rattled, too. It didn't help that the WRs were dropping balls all game, as well. And we wonder why we never win home field in the playoffs. Games like this have to be won since it's likely we'll be meeting again, if we make the playoffs, that is. The Pats may have lost today, but it was an NFC throwaway game in comparison to our defeat.
Divisional Wins & Losses are the most important. I understand a loss to an AFC team vs NFC team has some value, but only in tiebreakers. A loss is a loss....and Pat fans are going insane right now.
this fanbase is bi polar... the jets lost today, but reality is we were without our best overall player on our team, and our starting TE. i'm hardly in a panic...We will be fine, but absolutely MUST beat the Fins.
It's not like I'm saying we got demolished, I'm just saying we didn't play them tough. I agree the D tried to keep it close as you say by putting together 2 or 3 defensive stands in a row giving us a chance to come back, but we were shut out for over a half. That is not playing them tough.
When Garrett McIntyre and Bilal Powell are your best defensive and offensive players shit like this happens
I'm sure the Jets will rebound from this, especially later in the year(The schedule they have is so weak!). Also, there are plenty of worse things going on in the NFL, and losing on the road to the Steelers is not something to get too worked up on, especially when you're missing your best player, and your best receiver(I'm calling Keller the best receiver right now after what Holmes did). The Saints are 0-2, the Pats lost to the Cards, the Raiders are 0-2 and got destroyed by the Fins, etc. My point is, in the NFL there are worse ways to lose than this, and there are teams that are in a way tougher situation than the Jets are in. Even though the Jets lost, the AFC East is still in a 4-way tie, the Jets have a ridiculously easy schedule, and the Pats coaching staff looked like crap against the Cards. This was a tough loss, but losses can become valuable learning experiences.
I was disappointed today after getting a glimmer of hope in the first quarter (second quarter too). Their offense stalled, the defense looked disinterested (especially the secondary) and they still don't use Tebow right. The wildcat needs to at least have a credible option of a pass to work, they don't even pretend Tebow might throw the ball. Steelers are tough, and a game without Revis is always a tall order...still feels like crapola though.
