I'm wondering if this is an injury precaution, or if they actually plan to use him in coverage. If we get another cornerback injury, I can see the "just in case" logic behind this. I hope to god we're not actually planning on letting mcknight cover somebody though! Maybe they will use him to blitz like last year?
I've been hearing about him playing corner for a while now every season this pops up, would like to see what hes got.
Its got to be a precaution. If they did run a 5 wr set we still won't see him. We'd just play a zone across the middle and hope our rush gets to ben.
I could see him being used as like a 3rd safety in big nickle formations to help out Lankster and Trufant.
this was said in an episode of HARDKNOCKS how Rex thinks McKnight could be a good corner one day. Something along those lines. Should be interesting to see how he does if given the chance on Sunday.
Mcknight played CB for us a couple times. I remember him being good at hugging people. very good in tracking but his hand/tackeling skills were trash. Lankaster can play nickle well enough to get by im more concerned about how kyle will step up against much faster recievers. Id expect alot less hitting out of landry as he will have to cover Kyles ass over the top. This will prove to be a change of defense for us and that scares me
Exactly, he wont be asked to man up on a WR, however he will most likely be asked to provide help over the top
Jets are undefeated in games Revis sat out. McKnight has taken snaps at corner before. Don't be so dramatic. Its an emergency option in case we have injuries at corner like the Giants did week 1. Look at Oakland they enver thought their long snapper would get hurt so they had no back up option. Losing Revis sucks but there are ways to prepare without him. We have 3 legit corners. Its our deepest position talent wise. Cromartie and Wilson is still better then a lot of corner tandems.
We do have decent backup corners but I really hope our front seven can get some pressure this week it will be much needed.
Thats gonna be the key to this game. With Revis out there you can afford to give Ben some time. Now we need to get a rush from 4 or 5 since we will be dropping back more into coverage. Ben is hard to tackle. O line is beat up though so I wanna see Coples line up on the inside and take guards 1v1.
Two questions: 1) Benny Rapistburger was sacked 5 TIMES last week by Denver. Does anyone think that number will be any less against the Jets defense? 2) Using the CB combo of Champ Bailey and Tracy Porter the Broncos were able to hold Pittsburgh to 19 points in Week 1. Does anyone think the combo of Cromartie/Wilson is worse than Bailey/Porter? Somehow I think we're gonna be just fine.
