Jennings is going to have to get a big deal. In this offense, do we really want to sink a ton of money at receiver? Jennings is probably more expensive than Holmes. A Packers 1st will always be late 1 as long as Rodgers is there, then you put Revis on defense?

When you have to pay for Jennings just like you would for Revis, sure it's more money, but Revis is twice as important to our team than Jennings would ever be.

    As for Saturday,

I thought the Jets would win this game with Revis because I thought the Jets secondary would be able to make plays when Ben was under pressure. Ben does a terrific job of keeping plays alive, but sometimes he will take some chances when he does that. I was hoping Revis, Wilson and Cromartie would be able to make plays on balls in the secondary when Ben made a throw he shouldn't.

Without Revis, it hurts, mostly because it means more time for Trufant, Lankster, Bush and everyone else who is either unproven or not that good. That hurts. Sanders is a good #3 receiver, and we are all very familiar with their #4 receiver: Jerricho Cotchery. Don't want to see Trufant on Cotchery or Sanders...

Anyone know if Revis will be available for Week 3?

I don't believe this. This is a guy who made comments about playing up his injuries in camp so "they could see what it was like with out him on the field"

In a series of interviews about head injuries with The Associated Press over the last two weeks, 23 of 44 NFL players -- slightly more than half -- said they would try to conceal a possible concussion rather than pull themselves out of a game.

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7388074/nfl-players-say-hiding-concussions-option

For right or wrong how many "star" players have held out of games due to prior games?

Jennings is going to get maybe a $10 million a year deal. He's a very good receiver. He's not Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson good though. He's not going to break the bank in that way unless some owner gets silly.

He would be an excellent piece of the puzzle on a championship offense for us, just like he is in Green Bay. The days of Sanchez and rotating receivers would be over. For the next couple of seasons it would be Jennings, Hill and Holmes with Kerley as the 4th receiver and then after that likely Jennings and Hill with Kerley in the slot.

That's a championship caliber lineup of receivers. At the point that Hill comes up for his next contract the Jets could make the decision of whether Jennings was still affordable, based largely on whether or not Jennings or Hill was the #1.

The late 1 is still a 1 and likely to produce a good player. The Jets have depth issues everywhere on the team except QB, CB and DT/DE. Adding another 1st round caliber player can't do anything but help that situation.

Revis is going to be hella expensive come 2013. There's nothing the Jets can do to stop that. Revis is a money-first guy and he has been since his rookie holdout. I doubt the Jets can hold onto him without making a huge offer, because somebody out there is going to make that offer. Throw in the fact that Tannenbaum and Revis agents can't stand each other and it becomes ever more likely that he's gone after 2013.

If you think losing Revis in a trade is going to be bad competitively for the Jets just imagine what losing him for next to nothing will do.

No Revis? We lose. Antonio Brown will have 100 yards and a touchdown

You know in the Rex Ryan era, the Jets are undefeated when Revis doesn't start.

Jennings wants $16m a year. He's not going to get that, but if Vincent Jackson gets 5 for $55m, Jennings will get at least $11-12m per as the marquee free agent out there.

It depends just how much Revis wants. If we lose him for next to nothing, we can use that money to sign a guy like Greg Jennings and pick up a 3rd round compensatory pick, or spread out the money on a few solid players.

Or if it's really looking that dire, trade him next year. You'll still get a big return: he's the best cornerback in the NFL by far.

I would think he will be.

He has been cleared since Tuesday/Wednesday for activity, but not contact. By next weeks practice, I would think he will be allowed to participate in contact practice.

Okay, disturbingly funny image aside (yea, that gave me a chuckle), I have to say that I care. I dunno, the idea of treating the players we root for as disposable human beings doesn't make me want to watch.... So I'd rather he sit, get better, play like a monster for us for years, and when he retires as a Jet we can honor him and still have him lucid enough to know what the he'll is going on.

Just my $.02 (current valuation: $.000001)

Although he probably will be available, the Jets might hold off until week 4 in order to avoid a a plane to Miami. It is, after all, the Dolphins.

Welp, I agree with the doctors. Best to keep him out. Now I have to swap Cro for Revis on my IDP fantasy league.

    I FEAR COTCHERY!

Haha, all of a sudden the defense collapses from top 5 to the very last because of one really good player. You guys are making the Steelers offense sound like the Patriots, come on now!

Without Revis, the pass protection will not be as dominant, but it will be solid enough with the right game plan. I kind of wish we still had Donald Strickland for a situation such as this for a nickle guy.

if the jets pull off this game in Pittsburgh, that would be a possible luxury to rest Revis
for the next week against miami as well if needed. i really want this win tomorrow.
it's going to be a rough ride no matter who is out for both teams.
Pittsburgh has not been a kind place outside of that 1 win two seasons ago. Even at home the jets have never been able to handle them, hopefully their having the jets number for the most part turns this weekend.

It's funny reading the title and then reading the first few comments like "good we absolutely need him sunday to beat the steelers".

Yeah, the thread was originally called, "Revis cleared for Sunday". Bastards setting us all up for disappointment!
