Jets' Tony Sparano sees Wildcat package with Tim Tebow as extra timeout to talk to Mark Sanchez

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/09/jets_tony_sparano_sees_wildcat.html

Tony Sparano admitted that the Jets held back on using Tim Tebow Sunday against the Bills. They put him on the field for 10 offensive snaps, nine of which he was the quarterback. He ran five times out of the Wildcat, without much success. But Sparano said that it was a muted debut for Tebow and the Wildcat because as the game got out of hand they wanted to run the ball instead.

"We didn’t really have to do at that point we had to do as much as we needed to do there," Sparano said. "There was some other things we needed to get done."

However, the Wildcat did have its benefits. It served as an opportunity for Sparano to basically use it as an extra time out and to be able to converse with Mark Sanchez on the sidelines.

Sanchez completed 5-of-6 passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns on the play immediately after the Wildcat. While Sparano wouldn't draw a causation between the two, he did think there are ancillary boosts for the Jets.

"It can be a coincidence," Sparano said. I’ve had good experience in the past with that part of it because there’s so many people that say flow and it'll interupt his flow. You interupt his flow when you’re on the sideline on defense too. That happens during the course of a game. That’s not something that I get too worked about nor have I asked when I talk to the quarterbacks about those scenarios and how we’ll use them...As soon as Mark gets to the sidelines, I go 'What’s next, what are you thinking, what do you got?' For me it’s an additional timeout. It's a way to get additional information to him."
