Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN Per NFL spokesperson, Revis "cannot practice or play until he has been cleared to do so by tm Dr & tm's independent neurological consultant"
Personally I wish he wouldn't play. I'd rather take my chances without him than risk losing him for any extended time. The guy is way too valuable to screw around with. Concussions are nothing to play around with, and we've already seen a couple of our all-time best players retire because of them. Even if we lose (and most people probably had this as a loss on the schedule anyway) we'll be able to rebound the following week against one of the worst teams in the league. If he takes another big hit and we lose him for the next few weeks, we're fucked. It's ONE lousy game on the schedule. Let's try to win it without him and we'll see him at 100% in Miami.
No way. If the doctors clear him, we should play him. If it was some bunk team like Miami or Rams, I'd be okay with that, but we need all hands on deck for the Steelers. There's a reason they have 2 separate physicians look at the affected players. They wouldn't clear Revis to play if he was at risk. We know way more now about concussions then we used to and the NFL has done a very good job at improving their care in that aspect. I trust the doctors.
If he gets the all clear from the Docs then go for it I say, if he has been deemed medically fit to play why shouldnt he play this week? The NFL are strating to crack down big time on concussions, if there is any doubt as to his health he wouldnt be cleared in the first place
This combined with Schefter's comment that he's expected to play on Sunday leave me fairly optimistic, despite him still needing to undergo testing. I guess we'll have to wait to know for sure but hopefully he'll be good to go.
If the docs clear him you play him. Revis doesn't get involved in a lot of tackles during a game and usually is away from the crowd. He also has perfect form - never leads with his head - poster boy for how to tackle to avoid injury. If he is cleared he will be fine to go.
Its funny I seen guys saying trad Revis lol dont pay him smh and once he gets hurt guys are startin to shit themselves
I agree. I am a little concerned about this because the blow did not look that hard to me. It makes me think he might be prone.
It makes me nervous because a guy like Revis relies so much on his head. While a good zone CB may be able to get by while he's a little fuzzy upstairs (bump, drop, read, break on the ball) I believe that a man corner who relies so much on being tuned in to every detail of the receiver's body language is going to lose a lot more if he's not all there on game day. Focus is the name of Revis' game-- I hope he's capable of executing up to his regular standards on Sunday.
I'm hoping the Steelers agree with this philosophy and try to throw at Revis early like the Bills did. We'll see how that works out
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/09/darrelle_revis_status_unchange.html Not good. Still not cleared for contact. If he still isn't cleared tomorrow he is probably a no go.
i dont know...he could be cleared at any point prior to kickoff...if he is cleared by the independent consultant make no mistake he will play.
