    Tempo. Tempo. Tempo.

It's been Sporano's mantra since the day he walked through the door. Move quickly, know your responsibility and execute precisely.

The Steelers are the one game on the calendar where it would seem that this might be very beneficial. They are an aggressive and aging defense that is known more for beating you up than running with you.

The Sparano-installed man blocking scheme might also help handle the exotic pressures that the Steelers are known for. Keeping Sanchez upright should go without saying.

No-huddle also seems to be a great plan. I would almost like to see it on the 2nd series, as a nice curve-ball.

On D, stop the run and watch Heath Miller/Cotchery.

Revis/Cromartie match up very nicely with Wallace/Brown, although they generally match up nicely against anyone.

Can our safeties take away Miller? Can Wilson handle Cotchery in the slot?

Jets Defensive Line matches up nicely against the Steelers Offense, which is missing first round pick David DeCastro.

    Less mistakes = Win

First team to turn the ball over might very well end up on the losing end.

Steelers' health isn't looking too good (Redman's still banged up, Dwyer's got a foot injury now, polamalu and harrison not practicing, Mendenhall fully participates in practice but who knows where his recovery's at...)

We have a legit shot at beating the Steelers even though they're a better team on paper.

Well with the Steelers their offensive line is a question mark. They get some guys back this week so they should be better, but the Jets will bring pressure and go after Ben. The corners need to be able to handle coverage and the line need to get Ben on the ground. I see Landry crowding the line a bit and attacking. He is big enough to take down Ben and also play the run.

Mendenhall is back at practice and looks to be playing, but Dwyer is hurt now...Mendenhall isn't going to be 100% but if Dwyer can't go full they have two backs that will each get some work but not be full speed. Jets need to make them one dimensional.

On offense they need to run the ball. That will setup play action and allow Sanchez to go deep and stretch the field. That will be key to keeping 7 guys in the box and allowing runs to be effective. I see Tebow in the game more running the cat, I do expect him to launch a pass deep in the first quarter to see if they can catch the Steelers being over aggressive.

If any turnovers happen it can't be a pick 6 or fumble return.

Special teams needs to make a play - win field position.

Jets have a solid shot in the game as the Steelers are not the same physical team they have been in the past and are still getting familiar with their new offense. If they played them in week 12 I would be nervous, but in week 2 I think it is the best time to go after them.

Steelers are living off of rep right now, we're a better defense I think we're equal on offense and our special teams is vastly better

run the ball, stop the run is 1st priority

take some deep shots when available, keep Miller out the game

be patient against Big Ben, protect Dirty

lmao kudos to the OP. Well done. :)

As for the Steelers, I like the Jets chances a whole lot this week.

    Keys are:

    Offense:
    - O Line protection. But more than that they have to attack the D-Line and push them backwards.
    - Set up the run with the pass
    - Run play action, misdirection draws.

    Defense:
    - Get pressure without having to bring exotic blitz packages, in order to do so.
    - Don't allow an inch in the run game
    - No gash plays

Pretty much the same blueprint that was used for Bills applies to Steelers, with some minor alterations. The main difference is if the Jets get pressure on Ben they MUST bring him down. They can't hope he makes a bad decision under pressure, because it will be quite the contrary. Ben cannot be allowed to extend plays. This is the biggest concern for me. The Jets seem to get pressure but struggle to finish the play in the backfield at times, and that is a strength of the bathroom molester.

Seriously, our defense matches up well against their offense. Their RBs are big and slow. So don't expect any CJ Spiller type runs. As long as we can keep the WRs in check (Revis and Cro should be able to handle this) and put some pressure on Big Ben...the game can fall into our hands. Again, the darkhorse if we can get any type of production from our offense. We'll see.

i'm not expecting a high scoring game at all.

To run hurry up you need a QB who can manage the offense, be the OC on the field. Payton Manning was so successful because he is the master of this, that's what he was doing in Indy all these years. Sanchez is no Payton, I doubt he’ll be able to run no huddle effectively.

I think we'll see much more Tebow lined up in the back field. I actually really liked how they did it against Bills. It confuses defense and slows them down. Perhaps just a little, but it's still significant. Getting TT in the mix makes D. trying to protect against several things simultaneously, allowing QB extra second or two to pick the least protected scheme. If the pass rush is coming -- hand of to TT. If they protects against the run -- throw deep. Mixed coverage -- go for slant. I realize that this also requires Sanchez to get the right read & change on the fly, but it should be easier for him than play OC in addition to QB.

I just really hope Jets would stop lining Sanchez at WR. This is just idiotic IMO. First, you take away your starting QB from what he does best simultaneously increasing possibility of him getting injured. And to do this you take a real WR off the field. It's like willingly removing 2 of your players and playing 9 vs. 11. I just don't understand the concept, it was making more sense to get Sanchez off the field for a play.

There are a few givens in this game. Starting with those we can find the way the Jets can beat the Steelers.

    1. Ben Roethlisberger is not likely to have a big game.

He's had a couple of excellent performances against Rex defenses in the past but many more average to poor ones.

    2. The Steeler's offensive line is a mess right now due to injuries.

Big Ben is likely to be under a lot of pressure in the pocket if the Steelers are forced to throw the ball a lot.

    3. The Steeler's running game is sputtering at the moment due largely to the offensive line issues and the absence of Rashard Mendenhall recovering from an ACL.

Isaac Redman was the #1 guy last week against Denver and went 11 for 20. The Steelers rushed for just 75 yards.

So on the offensive side of the ball you have an offense weakened by gaps in the line. You have a runningback by committee instead of the big pounder with speed. The Steelers are a real possibility to get shut down by Rex and company with no Mendenhall there to pound the gaps and make the LB's a liability. Mendenhall may play on Sunday but he won't get a lot of carries.

So the Jets have a chance to outright win the game by shutting down the Steelers weakened offense. If there was ever a game where having blanket corners was highly valued this is that game.

    4. The Jets offense seems to have found a rhythm after floundering for the better part of a year.

The rhythm has four primary compenents:

    a) The pass protection last week was excellent.

If Austin Howard is real the Jets have fewer holes to cover for. Mangold can help out Slauson more because Moore is not sliding outside to help the RT as much. D'Brick can play on an island against his man more often, which is where he has been best in his career.

    b) The main receivers are suddenly healthy and Sanchez hit each of them last week for key throws.

Knock on wood here but if the Jets can put 3 healthy quality receivers on the field alongside Keller they force Polamalu into primary coverage and then he is much less dangerous. Like Ed Reed Polamalu flourishes on free-lancing with a nose for the ball. Put him in coverage and he can't do that as much. The free safety is not likely to be up in coverage due to Holmes and Hill and Kerley, all of whom are dangerous if the defense cheats up.

    c) Mark Sanchez appears to have found a good 3-step drop rhythm and distributed the ball all over the field with quick throws. The Jets also used the shotgun successfully last week opening up another range of options.

The quick throws will help against what is likely to be a pressing defense.

    d) Tony Sparano opened up the offense last week and was very successful.

This means the Jets are more likely to try to get the Steelers in a hole early as opposed to playing the tentative probing game that often gets a team in trouble on the road.

    That's what I've got.

The Steelers run game is not all that effective due to injuries. The Steelers passing game is not all that effective due to Rex. The Jets passing game is effective due to an emphasis on quick throws and constantly threatening the defense deep. Tony Sparano goes for broke and tries to whip the Steelers before they get their feet on the ground.

That's my formula for beating the Steelers this weekend.

I like our chances a lot too.

The Steelers OL is probably one of the worst in the league right now with all of the injuries they have. I think we can easily have a ton of pressures and maybe even 4ish sacks. As long as we can bring Big Ben down on first contact.

The defense isn't what it used to be with a lot of injuries. If we can run the no huddle, that could be very effective.

Also, I think our defense matches up very well with Cro on Wallace, Revis on Brown and KW on Sanders. They dont have a burner like McFadden or Spiller so as long as they can tackle, that shouldnt be too big of a task.

The Jets have to do what the Jets need to do.

They don't have to score 40 points to win. They need to play hard defense and run the ball with the occasional play action. The Jets can win if they score 17-24 points, and that low scoring is due to time of possession. They need to do what they did in 2010 and play smart.

Maybe the Jets are the better team this season? Beat them on the line. Beat them to the holes. Beat them everywhere we can. Outsmart them also. Out play and outsmart and out score them. That should do it!

This could be a good game for our d line to show up and get pressures even when they only rush 3.

Also I'm going to feel bad for cotch if he gets blasted by landry like fred jackson did.

Much more thought out version of what I was going to post.

The Steelers aren't as good as they usually are. The defense is a little slower, and the Jets have some speed on the outside that can take advantage of it. I expect the offense to have some problems, but last time Sanchez played Pittsburgh, I was convinced he was the real deal.

Defensively, I don't see Pittsburgh having much success. I am worried about them converting 3rd downs, but their running game isn't very good at all, and their offensive line is atrocious. The Jets have a few defensive linemen who should be able to win one-on-one matchups and get pressure up the middle. Pressure Ben up the middle, force him to turn the ball over because he will have some plays where the Jets can force turnovers.

So offensively, just don't turn the ball over, get to 17 points, and hope it's enough. If the Jets don't turn the ball over, they should win.

The Squealers have some key people banged up. Practically the entire O-line, Palomalu not practicing yet (calf strain), Harrison still out (knee) and Dwyer is day to day. I know Manning is Manning but that defense looked old and creaky on Sunday night...it just did. Big ben looked kind of hobbled (I guess he always does) .

I think Big Ben is in for a beating and their running game is almost non existent. if the Squealers are going to get it done I do not think it will be via offensive explosion.

Limit turnovers and the Jets are 2-0 just like that.

The Steelers line is banged up pretty good. I think if the Jets are to win they have to contain BR and put him on his butt early and often. The Steelers are getting a couple of guys back on defense but they're still going to be slowed from their injuries. I think the Jets will use Sanchez/Tebow at the same time which will draw resources to Tebow especially if he hits a pass or two during the game, this will give Sanchez more time to throw and less pressure when he does. Also the Steelers only put up 2.9 yards per carry against the Broncos, and I don't see them doing much better against us, which means BR will pass like 40+ times in this game, but trying to do that against Revis/Cromartie won't be that easy especially since his line can't protect him worth a damn.

I think the Jets win this one by getting to BR. The Steelers can't run that well, so if the Jets contain BR they should win this one.
