There's just no reason for this team to have six receivers on the 53 man roster. However, Turner will probably be back with the team soon per all the beat writer a half hour or so ago. Perhaps they're just making sure Revis will be okay for Sunday, because if he isn't they'd need to add a CB.
I could see Turner back at some point in case of an injury. At this point, he doesn't have a ton of upside. I want another RB on the roster. Not a vet like Grant, that does nothing for me, give me another young RB off someone's practice squad.
Turner could be back. Does Sapp have any speed at linebacker? What happened to the second coming of Ray Lewis - Demario Davis? He should at least be a special teams deamon by now?
I just realized Donald Strickland is a FA... and knowing Tanny he would've waited after wk 1 so he didn't have to guarantee him anything.
Depth is a problem on every team. There's not a single team in the NFL that doesn't have one or two units where there's a huge drop-off from the starters to the second string, just look at the Steelers' offensive line issue at present.
I never thought Turner was all that impressive. He has the size but just never seemed to have the burst and quickness to get open most of the time. I thought White was more impressive in preseason than Turner - hopefully they either bring White back or go after a RB or LB.
Look, if Hill says you no longer need outside help, then Plax should be the guy. He'd be a nightmare 3/4 bounce Holmes in the slot, with Kerley put Plax in with Hill outside, when you drag Plax underneath you have three home run hitters, and a guy that can double as the check down. How many 6'5 4th corners are there?
Well... I mean... it's not like he's worse than Trufant or Lankster! Plus this is the first year we're only carrying 9 DBs and there are doubts about Revis' health for the Steelers. He also knows the system and it would've made sense to bring him in after wk 1 so his contract wasn't guaranteed... I'm just connecting the dots. IMO it's either going to be a DB or a RB...
Pretty surprised to see this release, Sanchez always seemed comfortable throwing to him. He was his security quilt (not blanket, because quilts have holes in them). Maybe he'll be back, who knows.
Strickland was pretty good for us in '09 when healthy. I was disappointed to not see us bring him back in '10 and I was happy to see him back last year. But he didn't look nearly as good last year. Not sure if he's washed up or what.
Listen, we are not getting Plax back, think about it. We need a guy who can play ST as well with this roster spot. I dont see Plax as a gunner on punt coverage or on kick-off coverage...
