1) I wonder if we're bringing in a vet 2) Maybe we just want to free a roster place since he's injured and we'll sign him back when he's healthy again. 3) Sparano cut him in Miami one year after drafting him in rd 3... guess he really doesn't see him as a fit.
I think he's still around (so that would make 5 WR's, not 4 as was previously mentioned). Any chance this move is to sign White off the PS and send Turner to the PS ?
I think the 5th WR will remain Gates no matter who we pick up. Could be Burress (although I'm not 100% sure I'd like it).
Oh, I forgot Gates was on the roster, lol. Ok, that makes a difference, I think we go somewhere else then. I think maybe we go for a LB or something to counter the Steelers instead of another WRs.
The Return of Scotty McKnight? Turner has been here off and on for the last 4 years. He had plenty of opportunity to shine. I like the kid White better and think he could be a possesion receiver for us. They have something up their sleeve with the open roster spot. They could go in a lot of directions RB, another WR, TE or OLB. I think they need to look at CB because Trufant is just to small and overmatched against...everybody.
Glad it's not just me that sees this, I do think Trufant brings some value in ST though. I just think his size or lack there of is a liabality in pass coverage. I think we add another LB because even though most of it came in garbage time I do think it's possible the CS sees this as a weak unit on D.
He's always been a fringe guy. The Jets seem to have a lot of turnover at the bottom of the roster, so I think it's likely we'll see Turner again this year, once he's healthy. If someone else signs him, then we are off the hook for his guaranteed contract.
Was thinking the same exact thing. Plax would makes sense here, he provides depth at the position and is a big EZ target.
Id be shocked if that spot didnt goto ricky sapp....but personally id like to see it goto ryan grant.
Trufant's ST value goes down if Folk keeps booming them into the endzone. Folk's leg looks way stronger. We shall see how it holds up in November and December. With Malone the new punter supposedly getting 4.5 second hang time with better distance from Conley they might need somebody who can run. On defense I cringe when I see him out there.
ManishMehta: There is a good chance that WR Patrick Turner, who was waived today, will be back with team on near future.
