I hope everybody can just sort of unclench and enjoy the season now -- this could be a special team. I think any sane person would already see that the Jets were fully behind Sanchez (at least for the present), and that Tebow was and is not going to start for this team, either this season or for the foreseeable future (barring injury). But it helps that Sanchez started off with such a decisive, crisp, and productive game. No one will be able to get that game out of his mind, even if there are a few bumps ahead. So relax, and let Tebow be Tebow. He's helped this team, and he can help it some more. He has not caused problems in team morale, and I truly believe he helps the team mentality with his attitude and work ethic (as well as the spotlight he brings). Tebow can be a 250-pound Rudy who helps spark this team to greatness. I hope we don't see too many more of the "boo birds" when he comes in. Sanchez is secure, and that fact can liberate everyone to enjoy a unique team dynamic.
Yeah I was with what you said until it turned into the usual BS about how Tebow brings magic to the team.
What day is it? Overreaction Monday. I'm going to hold off on drawing too many conclusions about yesterday's game. Sanchez played pretty well for the most part - against the Bills, who are obviously still bad despite all the pundits who picked them to make it to the playoffs this year. When I see Sanchez put together several games in a row like that - against good teams, then I'll be ready to give him more credit. Let's hold off on crowning him, RGIII and Alex Smith the Kings of the NFL and Andrew Luck, Michael Vick and Brandon Weeden the paupers until a little further into the season.
It's not magic, it's talent and effort, and play-making ability. In other words, he will actually make plays that help the Jets win. You know, the regular way, with like first downs and touchdowns. You thought "spark" meant some sort of magic? Come on, don't strain to look for the negative. Surely you've watched football long enough to know that a play here and there can contribute to an overall winning effort.
He may struggle, and he may not be worthy of a "crown" yet. But yesterday's game will sit in the memory of everyone as what he's capable of. Not that there was much chance before, but he won't be benched for performance this season.
Not trying to be argumentative, but we all knew what Sanchez was "capable" of, as he has shown flashes of it throughout his NFL career. The main question has always been was he capable of doing it consistently, and it is perfectly premature to say that game #1 of the new season has answered that question, just as it is perfectly premature to state after game #1 that he will be the starter and not "benched for performance" over the course of a 16-game season. Like I said before, let's see how he looks against some good teams, like the Steelers, 49ers, Texans and Patriots. Let's try to have some long-term perspective and not be prisoners of the moment.
I'm not all up on Sanchez's ballsack yet. I think he played well and hope he can continue this, but let's be honest... Fitzpatrick played like garbage and the D was on point. It was an easy win. Not taking anything away from Sanchez, but let's see some sustained excellence before we dub him Joe Montana.

I'm not predicting anything about how Sanchez will play. I'm saying a good start is everything -- he'll get the benefit of any doubt under this new Sparano offense.
I'm a big believer that offensive scheme and play-calling can make all the difference in how a quarterback "looks" playing the game. Plus, pass protection. The same quarterback can be flummoxed and overmatched and then look good (and actually be good) under the right OC.
So what does Fitz play have to do with Sanchez? Mark played extremely well and the offense scored every time the D gave them the ball. I need for Sanchez to be good not great, and although is way to early to tell its a damn good start for him. Lets hope
For one thing, Fitz was a turnover machine. The Jets kept getting turnovers in great field position, and scores off turnovers. They were playing ahead the whole game. One thing this game did not show is how the "new" Sanchez will play in this offense when the pressure is on, when things aren't going well, when they are behind. Or when the game is on the line.
Well things didn't go well immediately. But obviously that downswing only lasted 3 or so plays os not too bad. If this new Sanchez is consistent like this, it won't be often we need him to execute in pressure situations. There has to be some credit for putting a game away early and never allowing it to become close or spiral
