Can't crap on Sanchez if he had a bad game, can't go too crazy because he had a good one. Let's see a few more games like today. I think if the O-line does their job, he can do it.
I understand the cautious optimism many of you have, but I was all in for Sanchez even this off-season when everybody was all up in his grill. He might not be Aaron Rodgers, but he's good, and certainly good enough to take the team to the Super Bowl with the right team around him.
That game showed what kind of QB Sanchez can be with decent play calling and not having a turnstile on the O line. Let's hope he keeps it up.
Absolutely, the o-line played great today. As the announcers mentioned, I never heard Mario Williams' name today AND that's with Howard matching up against him much of the game! If the o-line can maintain pass protect it will give Sanchez confidence to step into his throws and make better passes. Where was Keller?
Sanchez had some positives today but still a lot of negatives. The positives is he made faster and better decisions. The negative is he was very inaccurate misising Holmes on two wide open 2 TDs, over throwing kerley on 3rd down that would have set up a 1st and goal inside the 5, as usual throwing the ball late after receivers have come out of their breaks, missing Holmes on a wide open play over the middle, under throwing a wide open Hill and almost messing up another easy TD. Sanchez was also bailed out by some exceptional Receiver play where they really came up big today on some poorly thrown passes. Not to mention we had another Sanchez and fumble and INT. Sanchez benefited greatly today thanks to a great defensive effort providing us a big lead where he was able to throw in non passing situations all day and throw to ball to basically uncovered receivers all day. A better test will be next week. Sanchez has never had to much of a problem throwing to uncovered WRs. The problem he has had is he normally cannot complete passes in passing situations unless his receivers are left uncovered and he is not put under any pressure. Under even the thought of pressure he panics, crumples and gives up on the play. Situations we did not see today. The biggest positive was the discipline Sanchez showed getting rid of the ball quickly. Something we rarely have seen in the past. I suspect that taking Sanchez out for Tebow frequently helped him quite a bit as it allowed the CS to help keep Sanchez focused and coach him up between plays. I would not get to excited and make claims that Sanchez is suddenly become a top 30 QB until we see him play in normal conditions.
heck yea!!! he's the qb for this franchise!!! go Mark oh ya - 70% completion today! hoping it continues next week!!
Uh he has been a top 30 QB ever since his 2nd year. He is clearly above top 30 right now. There are 5-10 QB's who are starting I wouldn't take over him disregarding contract/age/etc.
So there aren't 3 starting quarterbacks in the NFL that Sanchez is better than? Good God. And while you nitpick on "almost missing" a touchdown, of which I have no idea what you're talking about, which TD pass almost missed, ignore the perfect throw to Kerley for the first touchdown.
It isn't - just read the rest of the post. According to him every completed pass was either to a wide open receiver or required an amazing play by the receiver, and doesn't count anyway because they were all in "nonpassing situations all day" (you know, like those 5 drives in the first half for over 200 yards that led directly to 20 points, most of which when the Bills were within two scores). After all, how else can you call someone who completes 70.4% of his passes in a game "very inaccurate"?
While the Steelers should be a better match than the Bills the thought that Sanchez was able to throw from "non passing situations" is totally false. Except for the hurry up at the end of the half, Sanchez passed on first and 10 on twice during the game and never passed on second and short. The key is that Sanchez was 7 for 10 in converting third downs this game. Your complaints about his accuracy and poorly thown passes when he threw for about 73% (at 10 YPA) seems overly critical to me. I didn't see many overly acrobatic catches from the Jets receivers. They caught the passes that should have been caught. The long TD to Hill may have been a little underthrown, but it was a pass more than 40 yards in the air. By most accounts Sanchez played well today. The fact that he had time to throw is obvious. The fact that he is better when he's got good protection puts him on par with most every other starting QB in the league. Watching other games I saw just as many "open" receivers as the Jets had today. I will go out on a limb and say that Sanchez is a top 30 QB in the league. Even if it's a typo and you meant top 20 it's very arguable that he's a top 20 QB right now.
LOL. I wonder what excuses all the dark siders will have this week. Sanchez: 70% completion, 3 TDs, 266 yards, rating 123. Dude! He holds the ball too long! Guess who scored more points that any other team today? J-E-T-S! JETS JETS JETS!!!
