this is the only reciever i think that gives revis a hard time.but with a whole offseason to prepare revis will own him this sunday
Not to mention Steve Johnson hurt his groin that he had offseason surgery on Wed and couldn't practice because of it yesterday.
Hey Everyone, My name is Jon and I mainly do play breakdown and scouting notes for the Bills on my website. I watched and re-watched both games from last year and took notes on them. I try to be as un-biased as possible when taking notes, so please take a look and if you have any questions or comments I'd be happy to answer them. yardsperpass.com/?p=93 Thanks, -Jon
Johnson is crazy in that he will do 2-3 moves on a simple slant pattern. But then will come back with a 1 step quick slant when you are prepared for all the shake and bake. He's really more quick then fast which makes hard to bump as well. The groin was a problem last year too...
I would say every single match up is in our favor. I dont see how Bills fans can think that Stevie Johnson has the upper hand on not only the best CB in the NFL, but one of the best in the history of the NFL. Sure, he beat him on a 2 yard slant and made so good catches on some even better throws by Fitzpatrick, but lets not make it out like he lit up Revis and owned him. He had a good game. You will be in for a big surprise if you expect SJ to dominate Revis. Also, Kyle Wilson is one of the better slot corners in the NFL and I would not say that match up is in the Bills favor. At the very least I would say its a wash. Fact is, we match up very well against teams like the Bills. We can stop the run and have one of the best pass defenses in the league.
Revis has destroyed receivers 10x the talent of Johnson. If Fitzpatrick is stupid enough to throw there he's in for a rude awakening
Here would be my gameplan: Offense: Early in the game hit them with misdirection, play action, draw plays etc. Keep these guys off balance as much as possible. We have to try and stop their pass rush from running down hill as much as possible. Im running the wildcat in mostly short yardage situations to keep the drive going. BTW, get Hill and easy catch early on a bubble screen or something. Just get his hands on the ball so he thinks less. Defense: Stack the box, make them beat you through the air. In all reality, their passing game isn't all that impressive. If they are going to beat us make them do it through the air. Don't give F Jax/Spiller an inch. Special Teams: Don't fuck up
TurkJet, That's pretty much how I would attack the Bills as well. The Bills d is going to look an awful lot like the Giants. Rush 4 and play coverage, try and make Sanchez beat them. On defense, the Jets really need to take away the run. Rex is going to take away the middle of the field and make the Bills WR beat the Jets CB's. Obviously easier said than done (Jets have best CB's in the league). What the Bills are going to do is less 5 WR spread and more NE type spread where the it might be Jackson, Spiller, 1 TE and 2 WR on the field but spread out and in the shotgun. That is what the Jets have to worry about as your LB's and safeties are not good matchups for the Jets in coverage against either of the Bills RB's -Jon yardsperpass.com
Not trying to be a dick but I see Landry and Bell as athletic upgrades from last year. I'm not too worried about this match-up. Also, in ]both meetings we were without Bryan Thomas, our run stopper specialist LB. I don't see the running game suddenly becoming a quagmire for the Jets to figure out. We have Thomas back, probably a step slower granted, but Maybin has bulked up and Demario Davis will help out on 3rd downs for the RBs in the flats and over the middle. IMO, the safeties lack only the comfort in the system and maybe football acumen overall from last year's group, whereas these safeties have the physical capability to make plays and be a force.
Agree with all except the Bills rushing 4. They will rush their LB's they spent a ton on to blitz. Mario is going to be a handful but we have beat Mario Williams defenses before. In fact, we've never lost to one.
I would personally like to see the Jets run a draw on the first play, talk about keeping the D off balance...this is a nice start
Yeah, no offense taken... people have different viewpoints which why I posted here. I enjoy the discussion. Game 1 last year was very different than game 2. Burress was a beast in both and will be sorely missed. Also Bills didn't spend any money on LB's... only Williams and Anderson, both are DE's. Barnett, Sheppard, Moats will be the starting LB's. All of which were w/ the team last year. Let's be honest this is going to be an ugly game... I don't think any offense will do a lot. 1 question... what's the deal w/ Powell? Is he going to get some carries? I like him a lot more than Greene
Bills corners are young and I really think the line will hold up well. I do expect Mo and Co to have huge games as well as Ellis if he gets decent playing time. Jets 30 Bills 6 Sanchez plays very well but Tebow converts a few key third downs and maybe a TD as well for him rushing it in.
Powell will definitely get his share of the looks, but Green will probably get 70 - 80% of the carries with the other 20% being split between Powell and McKnight (if he plays due to hammy). Powell has received a lot of praise but for me, I haven't yet seen it translate onto the field. He looked pretty good against Phillly but that was against 2nd and 3rd stringers. At the end of the day, this game will come down to who wins the turnover battle and who commits fewer penalties. JMO.
