2nd round is high for a back, but we didn't select Greene in the second round, not every 3rd round pick is a star player, most aren't, so you can't call it a bust when you get a good player in the 3rd Also its too early to call Sanchez a Bust, you can't say "the pick is a bust so far" you have to see how Sanchez turns out before you call the pick a bust. He's a quarterback with talent who has shown improvement all 3 years is a system we don't like. Sanchez started from day 1 and has only had 3 years, 3 years into his career, Aaron Rodgers was still on the bench, Brees got benched for flutie, Eli was being called out by just about every NY sportswriter. For a franchise Qb, you need to be patient
Lol dude are you sure? Im on my phone so im not gonna look it, but I watched that draft. I could sworn on my life we traded up to get him in round two. Wtf? Im like twenty three I should have a memory. But I believe you. I still call Greene a bust on the premise that he's not fulfilling what he was thought at that time. IMO he's not a legit starter for a run oriented team. I mean he is, but only by default. And McKnight could change that in a heartbeat if he turns heads. I see what you're saying with Sanchez, but the more recent history goes the opposite way. Cams a star, rookie year. So was Matt Ryan. So was rothlisberger. You can call flacco and Bradford what you want, but their teams are riding with them. I think the new signing (although I personally hate it if it goes any further than being a wildcat option) shows that the team doesn't have 100% faith in the guy they used their highest pick in recent history for. I hope I eat my words. I really fuckin do, but right now I dont see winning an SB a possibility with Sanchez or the other QB on our roster. Unless the defense and running game completely carry us ala Dilfer.
Cam is a freak of nature. Theres a reason why he broke multiple records and is a once in a decade kind of player. Matt Ryan is good... But he has failed to excel when it matters (which is when Sanchez turns it on). Flacco is nothing special and its way too early to determine what Bradford will be, but I dont see bright futures with Schotty. I agree with much of what you said, but Sanchez isnt a bust so far, and there really isnt a QB controversy... I mean unless you believe what the media says. Sanchez had a pretty bad ending to the season, but so did everyone in the organization. He’s definitely had his ups and downs but I truly think he’ll take the next step this season, but I could easily be wrong. And Im not sure if this was cleared up, but Shonn Greene was the 1st pick in 3rd round.
Recent trends have been that qbs are starting day one and really doing well. Cam is a freak (which shows what I know lol, cause after Luck dropped out and Carolina made it clear they'd take a QB, I thought Cam had VY bust potential). But look at Dalton. I feel like in today's NFL three years and you should have a feel for a guys skills. Maybe its because Im young, but Im looking at SF and worrying about being that teams that sits on a high draft pick for damn near a decade waiting for him to have a good year that could damn well be a fluke. Honestly, and Im not high on Flacco either, but if the ravens wanted to do a straight up no strings attached trade, I'd probably take it. I think it's a controversy not because of the media just because of how it looks. It kinda reminds me of the Eagles Vick deal three years ago. They said it was just cause they wanted an added dynamic, but you can read between the lines. They've got an aging veteran and maybe capable back up. I won't go so far as the talking heads and say that the fix is in, but I dont think you throw away two picks in a draft you dont have extra picks, and stick your neck out in the media like that for a guy that's gonna take less than twenty snaps all year. Not to mention the whole thing about Sanchez and Brunell splitting reps circus thing late last year. For the record, I 100% support Sanchez over anybody on this roster.
It's not like they cut their 2nd and 3rd round picks. They cut 2 6ths and 2 7ths and both 7th rounders made their practice squad. I'm sick of hearing this. My anger is not geared toward you mrmahon, but it's annoying already. How many 6th and 7th rounders are cut every year?
