and if those "TV personalities" and hack journalists said the Jets were a top 5 team you would say how smart they are. you act as if those "TV personalities" and hack journalists are purporting their opinions as facts. no, they are opinions, and people read them for the same reason they will read the computer's calculations -- to either consider them in forming their own opinion or to use use them to validate their own opinion. beyond that they are meaningless, the same as your computer calculations, so to applaud one but whine about the other is ridiculous.
well, computers are computers, but i will say it is definitely amusing to see the jets ranked so high considering all the shit thats being dumped ontop of the team in the media. i may be a jet fan, so i tend to be more optimistic about the team, but there is nothing to suggest that the jets are anywhere near as bad as the pundits are making it seem.

Our defense is most likely going to get better than last year. At worse they remain the same barring injury. If our offense does only one thing different, turn the ball over less, that makes us a winning team.
Also the pundits agree it'll be a tougher road to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl than the AFC this year. However, 5 teams from each conference round out the top ten. As far as the computer thing goes, that's why they play the games. But I'm sure the people who designed it had a good intention to build an accurate system, so they probably included as many variables in as possible. We fans (most of us, anyway) know the Jets aren't a bunch of no-talent scrubs playing under moron coaches. I think there is a reasonable chance for success, but there is also a sizable chance of relative failure.
I know what you would say because you are no different than any of the other Jets fans always whining when reporters opinions don't match your own. either they are smart for realizing how good we are or complete morons when they think we aren't good. the computer is right because is validates what you want to hear, and the journalists are idiots because you don't agree with their criticisms. this has nothing to do with anyone's opinion of the Jets other than the fact that you want them to have your opinion or they are idiots. the Jets were an 8-8 team that looked horrendous in the preseason. impartially there is nothing to indicate they are going to be any better, or even as good. the starting QB is suspect, the backup QB is horrendous and our running game looks terrible. just because the reporters don't want to base their opinion on the possibility that we are going to have an all time elite defense that will carry the load doesn't make them unreasonable, it makes you unreasonable for expecting them to believe that is the case. we are the fans, we are supposed to base our opinions and hopes on the best case scenario. we are the one's unreasonable. are the reporters taking a little more joy in reveling in how bad we may be? of course, but that is what this organization signed up for when they became interested in headlines. tough shit, the Jets deserve it and are big boys that can handle it. too bad all the whining fans aren't big enough to deal with it.
