Up until today there hasn't been any real football to talk about. I woke up with a little cream in my pants this morning. The NFL season where the games count are upon us.

We need to get over this idea that the offense has declined so much. Greene-Powell-McKnight isn't great, but it isn't awful either. The WR core is young and has potential with Holmes leading the charge as the SB MVP veteran. The O-line seems to be back to normal with Howard filling in quite well at Hunter's place and the rest of the line at the very least above-average.

I don't get how this offense is so terrible as everyone claims. We're not the greatest show on turf, but we aren't the Rich Kotite Jets either.

The offense has declined dramatically over the last two years.

    For 2012:

QB - Sanchez = plus for experience
RB - Shonn Greene = same
WR - Santonio Holmes = same
    WR2 - Stephen Hill = minus (Edwards)
    WR3 - Jeremy Kerley = minus (Cotchery)
    WR4 - Patrick Turner = minus (Smith)
TE - Dustin Keller = same
    TE2 - Jeff Cumberland = minus (Hartsock)
    LT - D'Brickashaw Ferguson = same
LG - Matt Slauson = same
    C - Nick Mangold = same
RG - Brandon Moore = minus (age)
RT - Austin Howard = minus (Woody)
    3rd - Joe McKnight = minus (LT)

That's just a huge drop-off in talent on that side of the ball over two years.

Now if you add in the guys who left after 2009 it's clear we don't have anything like the offense we had back then because Faneca for all his faults was better than Slauson and Jones was just a good mainstay back and better than Greene is now in the role.

"Next man up" means the next man up has to take over the reigns and contribute. We just need two of those players to step up and we're dangerous. I'm not worried about Sanchez, he'll get the job done. I think Howard and Smith can step up and be what we need at RT. Stephen Hill is the wildcard, if he can take all that talent and put brains behind it, he'll be the steal of the draft and an elite downfield threat. He needs to get those drops out of his mind and just make his two concerns route running/getting open and catching the ball. Sanchez will get it to him.

Everyone is talking crap about this team, I think the Jets will prove all of the haters wrong.

Biggs is now 0-1 in bringing a VLT to TGG.

He is actually 0-3 or 0-4. He's done his pep-talk threads prior to the regular season opener a few times already. Why doesn't Woody fire this guy already?

I think there's like 8 threads in the BS forum where you can find that stuff out.

Nonesense a healthy Sanchez who is standing in the pocket willing to set his feet and see the field has the potential to make this O miles better then it has been at any time in the last decade. We have more then enough weapons in the passing game if we don't stick to Rex's BS script of ground and pound.

It's squarely on Sanchez who in his 4th year and healthy can make this one of the best Jets offenses in years.

Kerley and Cotchery is a wash IMO. Kerley took pretty good strides last year.

Turner and Smith is a terrible comparison. Smith was barely a factor at all in the receiving game. He was a special teams wizard and WC option QB. A better comparison would be Turner to Schillens, and Brad Smith to Tebow. If Schillens plays, that's a plus. Tebow should also better than Brad Smith, so plus or even at worst. Cumberland worse than Hartsock? I don't think so. Hartsock could block better but couldn't catch for shit.

Why not plus for Greene Slauson Keller for experience as well? Each player has only improved. Keller's in a contract year. +

Plus Thomas Jones averaged 4.2 a carry, same production as Greene last year. Jones just had way more rushing attempts. Greene is perfectly capable of being a feature back on a balanced passing / running attack, which is what I expect.
