LOL, "honest" would not be the word I would use to describe this.

    Bingo

There is absolute ZERO reason to say what he did publicly at this point. ZERO. Hill has not played a real game yet. If this is a back-handed compliment, then it's even a poor one of those.

Wow, Really? Read the whole article. He clearly says that he would like to take credit for the pick, but he couldn't.

Ryan did not want a receiver at that pick, and what defensive coach does.

    Media whores nothing.

You don't guarantee a Super Bowl before the season, and you do not tell anybody that you disliked a rookie pick before he's played a game, even IF you are trying to talk him up in strange ways.

What he said was stupid, and he should know better than to say anything of the sort. He should know a little bit about how the media was going to spin it at this point, don't you think?

Seriously, his mouth...especially with all the hype around the team anyway, much of which is negative. Just a very dumb thing to say.

I think Rex really loves the Hill pick at this point. How bout you guys? I think he's gonna save the Jet offense.
1st preseason game: 2 catches for 21 yards on 3 targets
2nd preseason game: 2 catches for 17 yards on 3 targets
3rd preseason game: 5 catches for 68 yards on 7 targets

I expect the Jets to target hill 8 to 10 times a game. He will drop a few but I can see Hill with 6 catches for 75 yards consistently - close to his last preseason game. Multiply those numbers by 16 games. That's around 90 catches for around 1200 yards. I think Hill is that good possibly right now and he is that important to the Jets offense. Hill is no joke!

The title of this thread should qualify as fake news.

Just because you would have preferred choice A, doesnt mean you didnt want choice B.

    Just another negative spin.

If preseason offensive stats mean anything at all, then the Jets are in trouble. I wouldn't go quoting them to make a point.

You predict around 1,200 yards for Hill this year? That's around what he had for his ENTIRE college career.

What happens with Hill remains to be seen. Nobody knows. That's a reason not to put crazy slants of focus on him unnecessarily, I would think. Let the kid play and hope for the best. You don't need people to know that your head coach didn't want to draft you, cuz now that's going to be talked about.

How can you say such a thing...like what Ryan said doesn't mean that he didn't want Hill. Here is what Ryan said:

"Well, nothing told me he would (contribute)," Ryan told Don Banks of Sports Illustrated. "Nothing. When I saw the tape (of his collegiate play) I was concerned."

Does this sound like there is any question?

I do understand that Ryan's whole point was to try to say that he was wrong or something, but it's too soon to tell that, really.

Throw him the ball. He is tall and fast and athletically gifted. He will command attention. He will stretch the field but he has to be a threat so he commands attention and that in turn could help the running game. I would target Hill 10 times a game. Some medium and some long and a few short routes. Even if he catches 5 out of 10 targets for 60 yards that's 5 first downs and other teams have to account for his presence. Then the Jets can use him as a decoy. Hill is the future of our offense. Who else is?

Well, you have a positive spin (or prediction, more specifically)...but Hill is not a proven player in the NFL. He could suck, be great, or be average...or any degree between there. Better prospects than him have busted out, and worse prospects have excelled. Ryan should know this too...perhaps he is trying to motivate Hill in strange fashion with his comments. That could very well be.

    Easy, I did.

    Let me give a scenario.

Me and friends go out to the bar. I have a favorite beer that I want to order, but all my friends are hot on this pitcher of beer deal and convince me its a good idea, even though the idea and reasons behingd it were not my own, I trust and value my firends opinions and agree.

Does that mean I didnt want my favorite beer?

Show me where he says anything other than it was other peoples idea.

    Hill was pitcher B.

Maybe you know what you are talking about, but I sure don't.

He's just saying he didnt want a WR. He jokes about drafting all Defense. It was actually a huge compliment to hill and scouts. Rex trying to be funny,

Don Banks is protected from criticism by SI.com's chicken cheet ' no comments ever' policy. The whole staff over at SI.com is. Peter King would especially get bombed for his pompous attitude.
