Guys, I have a theory about all this nonstop Jets bashing on local radio and tv. I think the Giants are behind it... How is it possible for every single radio station to have the same exact opinion about the Jets? Not a one of them thinks the Jets are going to be any good and all they do is tear the organization apart every single second of the day. This seems too suspicious to be a coincidence to me. Most of these guys are like Bill O'Reilly or Glen Beck talking about Democrats, they do nothing but find fault with the other side. Likewise, I think alot of these sports talk people in the New York area are on the Giants payroll. The Giants are paying them all off, getting them to attack the New York Jets every second of the day in order to cause people to defect to the other side. I guess my real question is; Are the New York Giants involved in a mass misinformation project designed to bring down the Jets organization in the hopes that they may eventually have the New York market all to themselves? Your thoughts please.
No. The Jets allow for more access than most teams in the league, Rex has become one of the more fascinating coaches in the NFL, Tebow is one of the most fascinating players in the NFL, especially considering he's playing with a guy like Sanchez. After all the talk we did the first two years, and the way last year ended, you can't be surprised at the negative tone. There wouldn't be NEARLY this much coverage without Tebow though.
I can see where all the moves the Jets have made should cause a lot of talk, but why is the talk all negative? What (and who) is behind all the bashing of this organization, and who stands to benefit from this bashing? I can say this, if the Maras are behind this they are flirting with RACKETEERING and could find themselves in court over it if evidence should come to light. They are making it too obvious! I would say it's only a matter of time before this comes out in the press and the Giants organization will be stained for life as a result.
The fact is the Giants don't want to be sharing a stadium with the Jets, and they don't want to be sharing a major market with the Jets either. If they could somehow cause enough disaffection within the Jets fanbase they might cause the organization to fail and the team to move to another city. This would leave the entire New York Metro area to THEM ALONE... Word to the Maras... You are making it way too obvious gentlemen, and when you are caught it will not have been worth it.
I just found this picture of the OP: http://swirlsipsnark.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/tin-foil-hat.jpg
Honestly the Giants are irrelevant to us, yeah their players and owner talk so much crap, but its really not a big deal. Somehow fans have ranked them as our #1 rival and even had a hard time deciding whether to root for or against the Pats in the Super Bowl. I don't understand it.
Haha! Maybe, but think about it... how much is the New York Jets share of the New York market worth? We are talking a very very significant amount of money here... People have done far worse for far less.
The Jets bashing has a few components. 1. The Jets were not that good last year after talking themselves up in the pre-season. When you talk a lot and don't back it up there are consequences. 2. The Wayne Hunter fiasco was like an open wound that bled the front office and coaching staffs credibility. It was obvious to most people who watch football that Hunter was out of his league at RT. For the Jets not to get that until Sanchez had been on his back a few more times in the pre-season was just silly. If you let a bunch of media people agree on something that you're obviously wrong on the noise level will tend to get out of control. 3. The Tebow move may have been a competitive move and it may have been a publicity move. It probably was both from the Jets point of view. However the NY media has seen the Jets go overboard on publicity moves in the past 5 seasons. At a certain point cynicism sets in and I think most media in NY saw the addition of Tim Tebow as a move that was going to rock the boat. That's what they've been reporting almost since it happened and that's what they're mostly waiting on. 4. The Jets have had a lot of respected vets leave the team in the last few seasons. Those vets tend to have the ear of a reporter here and there. When they talk people listen. I'm not talking Plaxico and Mason either. I'm talking Chad, Faneca, Kris Jenkins, Shaun Ellis, Jerrico Cotchery, LaDainian Tomlinson, Damien Woody, Jonathan Vilma, etc. Turnover happens. Over 30 usually means career over. That's just what it is. The Jets have had a lot of key people in that category over the last few seasons because they bought a lot of late prime free agents at once. They're going to have more than a few more of those guys over the next few seasons. the dynamic is not very good for them on the "kiss and tell" front. All of this stuff adds up. That the Giants are Kings of NY right now and mostly above reproach as a result does not help. The Jets are going to get buried in negative coverage until they create a positive vibe *on the field*. That's the only way to get out of the trench they are in right now.
dont worry....you aren't right...the giants are not running a smear campaign in hopes of attaining the jets market share.
If the OP was right, the Giants ownership would never have agreed to share the new stadium with the Jets and Woody would have been forced to find a location and pony up all the money himself or leave the market. That was the Giants best chance to get the Jets out of the NY market and instead they offered a partnership. In addition, the Jets leaving the market would not mean any more revenue for the Giants.
Right... and you guys are telling me that Mike Francessa isn't a paid shill of the Giants organization? You're telling me that WFAN isn't being paid by the Giants to smear the NY Jets at every available opportunity? And fools like Dave Rothenberg over at ESPN New York aren't getting their marching orders from the New York Giants? Guys please, the bashing of the Jets is so over the top that the Giants have to be behind it. They want the Jets out of New York and they want the Jet market share and they are willing to do anything to get it. This is a battle for New York metro area market share, plain and simple. The Giants hate the fact that the Jets are getting all the backpage print and they are determined to do something about it. They've inserted their own operatives within the radio and tv stations in the NY Metro area and are engaging in a massive racketeering smear campaign against the Jets organization. When this finally comes to light it will be as big as the Joe Paterno story, with the same shameful result for the Maras.
why would anybody care what some idiots on a radio station think about the jets or anything else? Just win games.
The Jets have been consistently bashed since winning SB3 and every time they do the smallest thing that bashing will be a hundred times worse than any other team would get..that's just life as a Jet fan, get used to it.
I realize that, but doesn't it seem strange to you that so much of this Jets bashing seems to sound like the same thing over and over again? Like every one of these guys is reading from a pre-arranged script? It's like watching Fox News talk about the Democrats, or MSNBC talk about the Republicans, you can't trust what you're hearing because it's not news, IT'S PROPAGANDA! The Giants have one big propaganda campaign going on here, with paid operatives at radio and tv stations spouting the same hateful diatribe against the NY Jets every minute of the day. Think about it, who benefits from all this Jets bashing? The New York Giants of course...
