Sure to delight everyone here. "Amid rampant speculation that Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow will eventually supplant starter Mark Sanchez, the guy who signs everyone’s checks has provided a sound bite that’s encouraging for Tebow, and ominous for Sanchez.”I think you can never have too much Tebow,” owner Woody Johnson said during a Wednesday appearance on CNBC, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...nk-you-can-never-have-too-much-tebow/related/
And this is why so many of us felt this move was done for headline purposes only. Woody Johnson sucks as an owner
Mark Sanchez is a good QB because the Jets went to 2 AFC Championship games...why shouldn't the same apply to Woody? For every Woody Johnson media-flub, I could give you a Sanchez Pick-6...kinda hypocritical, don't you think?
You really can't follow what I posted? All I'm saying is why doesn't woody get credit for putting together an organization that went to 2 AFC championship games?
Well at least now we know who was the driving force behind the tebow deal if we didn't already I wonder what QB woody is gonna trade for when the giants win another super bowl in 3-4 years
Woody may have been the driving force, but clearly Rex and Sparano were on board, which is why Tebow's in NY and not Jax.
Sure it did. You said Woody's a bad owner. FakeSpike13 said if Sanchez is a good QB for getting to two AFCCG's then Woody could be considered a good owner for the same reason. Dumb reasoning, IMO, but no dumber than a lot of stuff on this board.
Is Woody a good owner because a rookie HC and a rookie QB led the team to the AFCCG? Woody sucks as an owner because he makes (or in this cases forces) decisions based on stupid newspaper headlines rather than what actually is good for the team. The fact that he's out there gloating about the publicity Tebow has given the Jets and jokes about the ineptitude of the offense is quite telling IMO.
Did Woody hire that coach, and approve drafting that QB? I don't know enough about the Jets to know if Woody's a good owner. No doubt the buck stops with him, though. It's waay to early to tell if this particular decision is good or bad for the Jets, though. Woody's gloating and jokes notwithstanding.

This is the 4th head coach since Woody has been owner. Woody is more desperate for ratings and headlines than he is winning (Brett Favre and now Tebow are two prime examples of this).
It's not like Bret Favre was a first ballot HoF'er who many felt still had gas in his tank. So, I guess Bowlen and Elway bringing Manning to Denver is just for headlines and ratings >?
The context of the question was not about media coverage. It was about the Jets offense and its struggles. He was essentially asked a question that implied having to use Tebow more should concern him about the effectiveness of the offense in the first place. He was just rebuffing the implication of the question, not addressing the publicity aspects of Tebow.
I can believe that getting Favre was a football decision, but that it was done after the Giants won the SB as was the Tebow move, I have to wonder whether the decision was done for jersey sales and headlines. Remember they jammed the Favre move in at the last minute forcing Schotty to change his playbook to suit Favre at the last minute.
I'm not disagreeing with your Murrell. The point is, both sides can have a reasonable belief and put up valid arguments to support their position. You and others can say that Tebow and Favre were nothing but marketing grabs. Others can point out that Favre was a shot at a quick fix and that there are valid "football" reasons for bringing in Tebow. It might be that both sides are right. That both moves were for grabbing headlines, putting butts in seats AND to try and win football games.
