What is silly about comparing recent QB's first 16 starts with Tebow's?... You can debate the validity of the comparison, but to just merely dismiss it as a "silly argument" is borderline absurd. The comparison did not denigrate any of the other QB's (to include Sanchez) but merely showed that Tim's numbers actually are pretty much on par with other young QB's despite the perception.
I don't think hurt mark at all. he had a good year for a rookie then was a top 10 type of QB in 2010. he took a step back last year but so much went wrong w/ our O you can't blame him. We nearly made the SB w/ him as a rookie, you can't beat that experience. I hate how they have had new WRs for him every year, that's been the the thing that has hurt him more than anything. Hopefully w/ Santonio and Hill he has his top 2 guys together for a few years and hopefulyl they re-sign keller.
So I had the free time and actually compiled the stats. I took the last 3 weeks tebow started his rookie year and the last 13 starts Tebow had his second year and compared those exact starts to Sanchez's last 3 games his rookie year and the last 13 in his second year. The argument of rookie stats vs non rookie stats DO NOT APPLY here. These are the fairest comparisons possible except Sanchez had 13 weeks of starts before I even started looking at his numbers (unlike tebow) and 5 more starts his second year before I started looking at his stats... let alone that he had 2 offseasons as the unquestioned starter getting every rep vs Tebow who didn't have a single offseason as starter and missed an OTA.... so yeh, the deck was stacked against Tebow when compiling these stats. Here is a link to the full spreadsheet and breakdown if you want to question them: Google Doc Here are the final results: Tebow: 181/388 for 2754 yards 17 TDs 9 Ints Completion% 47 TD/INT Ratio 1.89 Yds/att 7.098 Sanchez: 290/527 for 3358 yards 13 TDs 17 Ints Completion% 55 TD/INT Ratio 0.76 Yds/att 6.372 So for all those saying Tebow "can't throw". In 139 less attempts he only threw 604 less yards. He threw for 4 more TDs than Sanchez and 8 LESS Interceptions. Almost a full Yard per attempt higher. The only stat that Sanchez is the clear winner in is Completion %. And NON of this takes into account the 885 Rushing yards and 9 Rushing TDs of Tebow compared to the 113 yards and 3 TDs of Mark. Dispute THAT!!!!
You do understand that no matter what you post the haters ares till going to say what they say. They have invested so much in their negative opinion dating back to when he was drafted that nothing will dissuade them. If jets go 16-0 and win superbowl with Tebow at the helm they will still find reasons to want him out for the upcoming season . They would simply say "but we should have won those game so much easier, next year we can go 16-0 and not have close games" You do understand that right? just making sure....
How can 1 set of information be compared against an average between 7 sets of information in a usefull manner? Stats dont tell the story unless you use them correctly.
what the heck are you talking about? I compared 16 starts to 16 starts... thats about as even as you can do. The problem with "first 16 starts vs first 16 starts" was always the argument that Tebow wasn't a rookie... well... i just got rid of that problem.
And keep in mind... I'm not trying to make the argument that Tebow is better than Sanchez right now... that is not the case. Sanchez is and should be the starter and Tebow will perform well in his roll. These stats are merely to point out how absolutely ridiculous the arguments against Tebow are... He's a Full Back who can't throw, He'll NEVER be an NFL QB, Tebow sucks, and my favorite, he just doesn't pass the eye test (whatever the hell that is).
But wait...this doesn't fit the narrative... You can't use wins, stats, or comparisons in this debate...only preconceived notions.
This last comparisons is about as "apples to apples" as you can get... In fact, given that Sanchez had two complete preseasons as the unquestioned starter and 18 more starts (13 in year 1 and 5 in year 2) prior to the comparisons, he should have shown significantly better numbers than Tebow in all categories. Yet his only clear edge is in completion percentage. And as was noted, that's only passing stats, it doesn't include 885 Rushing yards and 9 Rushing TDs for Tebow compared to the 113 yards and 3 TDs for Sanchez. Honestly, I've maintained all along Sanchez is the clear choice for the #1 QB, but I think this comparison makes that a little less clear. Though I still think Sanchez as #1 gives the Jets the best chance to win.
HAHAHA, that's not going to happen but even if it did no Jets fan is ever going to say that... But if they started Tebow and went 0-16 you guys would find something out there to prove it wasn't his fault. You guys are the biggest crybabys when it comes to criticism with your Tebow.
Nor did I... It seems that even if you just imply that Tebow isn't as far off as he is made out to be, showing that he's pretty much right on par with his peers, that you are interpreted by some as a Teboner who thinks that he is the best QB in the NFL.
Nah, I should have learned by now to quote when I do something like that. Ill go read your comparisons now.
In that case, the comparison I made is still valid because all of these other 7 QBs are considered to be Franchise material... However, the post that Elton John guy made should make your concerns about what I posted irrelevant.
Repeat after me: I am not allowed to compare Tebow to other NFL QB's or their stats - no matter how precise and equitable the comparison - unless Tebow compares UNfavorably to the other QB's, in which case I can compare to my heart's desire. I am under no circumstances allowed to make the comparison if Tebow compares Favorably to the other QB's. The reason for this is, well....um.....just because! Because the Tebow Haters Club says so! Their motto is: "Never let facts get in the way of a stubbornly held preconceived notion."
Sorry just dont like when people twist stats around and make them something they are not, you yourself have admitted the only reason you did it was so you could put tebows name up there with other big name Qbs, its ridiculous and carries NO weight. TTT's comparison however is quite interesting.
I was joking to make a point but what you are saying is simply not true, its made up like most hater made up stuff. Every Tebow fan on here has said he has played badly this pre season. I said he has sucked donkey balls (that's an actual quote).
