He led out team in receptions and receiving yards. I don't think anyone is writing him off right now. He reminds me a lot of Braylon early in his career. He'll drop some balls, but the big plays he makes make up for it. He will be a huge part of whether we are successful going down field this season. Hard to not like a guy who gets drafted by the Jets and then does the chant on stage.

the kid has had more than 1 drop this preseason. he has had a number of them.

at this point his hands are bad. he needs to improve and catch the fucking ball. that is the number 1 thing you HAVE to do as a receiver.

He doesn't have to be a world beater to make a big impact on the offense especially compared to last year. He just has to do what comes natural to him. Block, get open down field, and hopefully he'll minimize his mental mistakes. He's the type of guy that should do more for the offense than his stats might suggest.

The one in the end zone wasn't really a drop. The ball was high and it was a laser and they just weren't on the same page. Don't remember any others although I didn't see all of the first game but guessing Teblow had something to do with it if true.

Certainly not writing him off. I like the pick a lot. I think he really needs time to develop though. His hands scare me a little, but I think he will improve on that in time. His system in college will probably hinder him from contributing big this year. Hopefully as the year goes on he will show improvement. I think it's unfair to expect a lot from him right out of the gate.

What about it? He seems to get open every other play and Sanchez seems to know where he's going so what more do you want?

Watched his career in college. His hands improved over the years. he is very shifty for his size, so he doesnt just have to be a deep threat. Also I watching an nfl show on espn and jerry rice said this kid is going to be our main weapon because santonio just doesnt have it anymore. I was so happy someone in the media actually acknowledged this. Also every receiver has drops. Just cant let them turn into ints.

Or the dreaded 3rd down drops. No drop is good, but man, those drops that end drives seem to hurt more than others...

IMO if drops are the biggest issue with a rookie receiver, consider yourself lucky. The fact that he is getting open with regularity against these guys shows that he can physically play with NFL defenders at a starters level. It usually takes a year or two for receivers to be physically good enough to create separation and make themselves a regular target, especially on the outside, where Hill plays. Drops, for the most part, unless you have Anthony Becht hands, are an indication that the game has to slow down a bit for you mentally. Like on the INT drop he was clearly trying to run up the field before he secured the ball. The only way to slow the game down mentally is experience, but this kid is still one step ahead of the curve, as evidenced by him being open all the time.

Not to mention the added plus that his blocking already is.

I'm not writing him off. Hill is only a rookie, and is bound to make a more errors than a veteran. Once Hill finds his groove and can make great plays, expect the "Hillll!" chants to come in.

That "hesitation route" was probably the worst route Ive ever seen... as someone described it as him running on ice. It didnt fool the CB one bit, but thankfully Sanchez is a good QB and put it right where it needed to be.

With that said, I have faith Hill will develop into a good receiver for us. He has lapses in concentration and I think he has to catch more with his hands than with his body, and of course work on his route running. He's getting plenty of reps and all of the support/teaching anyone can ask for in the NFL. Tone has really taken him under his wing.

That play is a perfect example of how Hill can help us if Sanchez has time to throw. Hill in single coverage down the field is a very difficult assignment for any defensive back. Sanchez can throw the ball up, and Hill's size/speed/jumping combination has the edge over every DB in the league.

Mark through a great pass behind Hill where the defender wasn't, and he trusted Hill to go locate the ball and make a play. That was a beautiful pass.

Pretty unsure of where the ice skates are but what do I know it was only a 32 yard completion with a stutter step and perfect pass.

Somebody can probably figure out if we had that far of a pass (in the air) completed last year if they're bored enough but I don't remember it.

I thought it was a great throw by Mark and the location was pretty much perfect. Those kind of plays are what we needed last year.

It just doesnt seem like the stutter phased the CB at all really, but for a rookie I'll take any sort of 30+ yard play.

Hoge is right it is almost impossible for receivers to overcome bad hands. We don't know if hill has bad hands yet. He is a rookie learning to run routes read defenses etc the droppsies are not uncommon especially with his college experience. l recall another receiver from a small school with a case of the droppsies his rookie year. Does the name Jerry Rice ring a bell?

Lets just hope this kid makes more plays than he does big mistakes. He is definitely showing he has some big time talent and potential.

I think he'll have his ups and downs early on, but he'll start to show a lot of promise by the end of the season.

He and Santonio may be a nice duo at WR for years to come.
