cooley is a good blocker. you guys gotta remember that the redskins would run the power O with clinton portis. the power O needs an above average blocking TE for it to work.
Here is a link to Cooley's goobye PC...He says "he wants to take some time" "thinks he can be a starter" "will have a hard time putting on another jersey" http://blog.redskins.com/2012/08/28/video-chris-cooley-says-goodbye/ the guy is totally torn up...looks like he's on the verge of retiring...hopefully he continues to play and evenmoreso I hope he plays here.
Do you have a link? If at the very least, Im sure he is an upgrade over cumberland in terms of blocking and can fill the void of Baker. I would be for the move.
Cooley is amazing. He is probably too good to be the Jets #2, but if it happened, it would be awesome.
http://thejetsblog.com/ http://www.hogshaven.com/2012/3/10/...ghtower-just-became-much-more-valuable-to-the see comments from hogshaven...includes being called "the best blocking TE in recent memory" Here's a snippet from the article: Chris Cooley is said to be back to full health and ready to go. His blocking ability will be just as, if not more, valuable to the Redskins this year than his receiving skills. To be able to clamp him next to whoever is at right tackle and help block with a chip or even a full double team will be huge. We can't afford Jammal Brown of this past year protecting the franchise investment on his own on the right side. Bottom line, Cooley being called a poor blocker is total misinformation.
Opportunity to play many snaps and a borderline opportunity to win. What situation would be better for Cooley than the Jets? He wouldn't have to play against the Redskins nor go to any of their rivals, and the Jets have enough cap room to give him a decent contract if he wants to play for above the minimum. Get er done Tanny.
for the love of god...the skins have been dog turds since cooley came into the league "wah wah wah can't put on another jersey" these aren't the 1992 Gibbs skins.
That would be 3 TE's on the roster who aren't good blockers. Since we have preached wanting to be a G&P team (unless it's all BS), we need an actual blocking TE who can at least be a serviceable receiving threat to keep defenses honest.
Since when? Cooley has never been more than an average blocker. Now he's coming off injuries. If you are saying an average blocker is better than what we have, than yes.
He played in only 5 games last year and 7 in 2009. Washington must believe he won't stay healthy to cut him after reducing his salary down to 4 mil. I guess a tryout and stringent physical might be in order.
Cooley was basically replaced two seasons ago. He has knee injuries and hasn't been able to shed blocks in 2 years.
Cooley is a fine and willing blocker better than anyone we have on the roster ...also he would be another offensive weapon for Sanchez...considering we have no blocking TEs and need more weapons on offense I don't know how any Jets fan would be against signing him.
