I am a UF alumnus, but even still I have no ill will or disrespectful views towards the FSU or Miami programs. As long as they aren't playing UF, I root for them. Charlie Ward is my second favorite college player of all time after Tebow. He should have been an NFL QB, not a basketball player. Goldenshowers seems like an FSU alum trolling the Tebowmania forum to start trouble. I wonder if he is really (Garnet and)Goldenshowers.
As a sane UF alum, I appreciate what he helped our 2000 teams accomplish, but he got way more credit than he deserved for their success. The ridiculous amount of talent on those teams that went unnoticed, and unappreciated, week after week, and year after year, in light of the golden child, was insulting. Instead of the conversation being 'Harvin isn't here to bail him out anymore. We should have expected this' after Tebow choked to an inferior Alabama squad in the SEC-C his senior year, everyone cried that poor Timmy couldn't go out on top. In college, he was a punishing option quarterback, on an amazing team, in an amazing system built around the team's strengths. In the NFL, he is irrelevant as a quarterback. An Isaac Newton quote sums up Tebow's college career quite well: 'If I have seen further, it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants.'
The Tebow years at UF had some stacked teams, no doubt. I don't think any of the UF alumni here are "not sane", though we have different opinions of who and what Tebow is.
Seriously, though -- that's the one Collingsworth decided might have been a last-second throwaway. Because if it's low enough for the receiver, I think the defender jumps the route and picks it.
The throw was sooooo late. The receiver was wide open. Tebow is staring at him. Get him the damn ball!
It was, no doubt. At least he's looking over there now, and he's got the film to realize that he's got to look quicker there. He's got to get to the point where he knows where they are before he looks, because he's run the play so many times, he thinks "When I see two guys over here, I know my third receiver's over there alone." Just automatic.
Again, leaving out other possibilities, or facts that are germane to the discussion. Take your first description about the kid who is a tough scrambler. Add to it the facet of designed, called run plays right up the gut against the LB corps, as opposed to running outside away from defenders. You know, good old smash mouth football. Then, add in the fact that many of us watched him impose his will and dominate in college, and believe that he can do the same in the NFL with time and development.
excuse me but when did i ever say that tebow's longer release would result in more sacks? i said it's a longer release time is a difference between completing a pass and/or being sacked. obviously obviously there are other aspects on how a qb gets sacked such as how good the online is. now answer me this: how would tebow do behind the jets oline last season?
Yep, definitely late. I'll get killed for this I'm sure, but look at the actual throw. The mechanics are "sound" overall. Needs to work on getting the ball out quicker, which is a combination of tuning his mechanics even more, and also, identifying open receivers sooner, i.e. things that most young QBs have to work on.
See this is the mind of the Gator/Tebow fan: You show them how Miami and FSU both had winning records against them from 96-06, how Miami and FSU both had undefeated seasons during that span, and yet the Gator fan determines from these facts: UF was the premier school during that time! FSU and Miami were both much more successful during that period, but The Tebots don't use facts, they just think if they say something enough it becomes true. Just like how if they say Tim is a good QB enough, it is true. Why is it that the Vols fans haven't followed Manning around like lost puppies? THAT guy actually deserves it! My point is that the reason for Tebows following is bc the Gator fan is an insecure fan base. They have been leading the NCAA in NFL busts for quite sometime, and they refuse to accept that their hero is just that. Once you understand why they are so desperate for him to be good, you realize that the whole thing is a strange sideshow and everyone is laughing at them.
NCAA Div I National Championships 1996 Florida 1997 Michigan (AP) / Nebraska (Coaches) 1998 Tennessee 1999 Florida State 2000 Oklahoma 2001 Miami, Fla. 2002 Ohio State 2003 LSU 2004 USC 13-0 2005 Texas 2006 Florida 2007 LSU 2008 Florida 2009 Alabama 2010 Auburn 2011 Alabama Still want to say that UF was not the premier football program in Florida since the mid 90's? How do you measure success? I measure it by National Championships when you have a big program like these schools. And BTW, as I said, I have tremendous respect for FSU and Miami, and do not hate either school. How this somehow proves that we are delusional about Tebow, I do not understand. And as far as UF leading the NFL in busts, that is just so ridiculous I don't even know where to begin. Oh wait, I'll start with the NFL's all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith.
probably better than he did behind Denvers, Denvers oline graded signifigantly worse than the Jets last year
Tebow was viciously criticized from his senior year at Florida and on regarding the NFL, way before he even declared for the draft. Once he declared for the draft, the criticism increased about 1,000%. After Denver drafted him, it increased about another 1,000%. This is before he ever even stepped on the field for his first game. Sanchez was criticized for his NFL play. Tebow has been being criticized regarding his play in the NFL before he ever even stepped on the field for his first NFL game. Sanchez has been criticized a lot, but it ain't even close to what Tebow has had thrown at him since before he ever threw his first pass in the NFL. What is closest to true is that probably no young NFL QB has ever had a run like Tebow did last year, considering all the circumstances with him being behind Orton, being thrown in 5 games into the season, all the records he set, etc. The hardcore defenders of Tebow have defended him so vocally in response to the vociferous Tebow haters who have been criticizing him since his senior year at Florida. Heck, in a way the criticism actually helped because everyone tried to say he was so bad that basically all he had to do was be able to walk and chew gum at the same time and complete a few passes and he would beat expectations. He certainly did that - and then some. I seriously doubt that many of even Tebow's most devoted supporters expected him to take a 1-4 team to the playoffs and beat the #1 defense in the league. That and he obviously hates Christians.
Matter of fact UF is not only the most dominant football program in Florida since the mid 90's they are the most dominant program in the entire country if you base it off National Championships (which is the only thing that matters).
Sanchez has had a lot. His coach from college said he wasn't ready when he came out. He played in NY also which media wise is much more vicious than Tebow had in Denver. And Sanchez has gotten a lot less love even during and after his 2010-2011 season.
If I'm a Steelers fan, I guess I've got to be feeling pretty low right now, since I finally have learned that my team with the #1 defense in the league got beaten in the playoffs by an "irrelevant quarterback". You think Denvers o-line was really good? Not. Did you see where I said "Sanchez has been criticized a lot"?
