I think Sanchez plays better this year keeping us in more games than last year. The D will be nasty and put a serious dent in the Offense of The Titans, Buffalo, Chargers and Texans. I say 10-6 and they make it into the playoffs.
If the Jets avoid injuries in key positions they'll not only be in the playoffs but will have a dominant defense. 10 wins minimum.
I want to believe that we can finish 9-7 because of our weak schedule and dominant D. From what I've seen, our offense is going to suck and be really boring to watch. On game nights, expect sales of Ambien in the Greater NY area to suffer.
9-7 is the lowest this team will finish, barring major injury. The offense will be better than given credit for, and the defense is pure filth.
I started out predicting 8-8, but then felt that some of my worst fears about the O were more realistic given the word out of camp. Tebow can't throw, and yet the Jet CS is wasting time on him to bring in plays for him when they should be focusing on giving Sanchez the best situation, and then leave some attention for a real backup Qb, which Stanton would have been good for, but at least see what they have in McElroy or Simms. then the Otah deal fell through. Add it up and at that point I was getting near 6-10, but now Howard has me raising my hopes that they can put the Hunter disaster behind them. Still, Qb is too unsettled, and the lack of TD scoring is just plain unpromising no matter what you say about pre-season. I think that leaves me right now at 7-9. I also ftr object to the SOJ term. Also to darksider. I prefer to call myself a realist. I am not down on every player. I think the Jets have a core of great players in Revis, Mangold, Cromartie, Harris and Holmes. Ferguson may be overrated, but he's still above average. Young players like Wilk, Coples, Kerley and perhaps Hill give reason to hope. Landry seems like a player, as long as he stays healthy. But the LB's are slow, the rest of the OL is either mediocre or in decline, the rb's are average at best, with Greene not up to being an everydown back, and Sanchez cannot carry the team. Key draft picks like VD and Wilson are underperfoming at best, out and out busts at worst. I also don't like the kickers. That's just being realistic.
I'm voting 9 wins. Not sure if that will get them into playoffs, but is about where i think they finish. Lots of unknowns, and a shitty O, but strength of defense gets them around 8 or 9 (being optimistic i go 9). RT (maybe Howard) is a big key.
so you are saying you think a team with a top 5 defensive unit will possibly finish with 1 - 5 wins? really?
for all the bitching and pissing and moaning around here these days 85% of people still think the jets will make a playoff push. LMAO ridiculous. yeah I'm calling all the ledge jumpers out...if you are going to jump then at least vote how you feel.
The offense will find itself and the defense will become the most dominant in the league leadng to the Jets going 13-3 this season. Public opinion will begin to sway once the Jets start off 8-0
I think our defense will be good enough to win a few close games for us. I'm going with 9-7, with an outside shot at 10 wins if Sanchez finally turns the corner.
call me a sunshiner.but i see the offense giving us 20 a game which will be more then enought to go 11-5 and maybe take the 5th seed. as raw as hill is he had 5/69 in a half with sanchez.holmes is going to get his and the tebow package will result in an average of 6pts / game.the defense is going to cause t.o. and good feild position.which will mask any offensive problems this team is going to be just as good as the 2010 team.relax and enjoy the ride
Great point. The drop that resulted in an INT was a huge negative but it's not like he's so raw he can't contribute. The offense showed a lot of positives last night IMO. If Hill were able to give that type of contribution on a regular basis he'd be a huge plus and a homerun pick year one.
Already bought tickets to the Jets Patriots game in Boston so I'm betting we are competitive or I just wasted a lot of $$$$. I'm predicting 10 wins and a wildcard berth, we'll probably start of sluggish, but pick up speed once the offense settles down and starts being productive.
I think 9-7 or 10-6 - the one positive I am taking from the pre-season (from the O side of the ball) is that Sanchez's completion percentage was a lot higher than he has ever managed in the regular season, so if he can keep the boneheaded plays to a minimum we might see some real improvement there.
If he made that catch like he should and most likely will most of the time he would have had great stats and been a real bright part of the game. Should have been 6 and closer to 80 yards. Instead he some how didn't get a finger on a ball that could not have been thrown more perfect. Now we get to hear people complain about Sanchez throwing an interception and no TDs.
I got this team at 10-6. Sweeping MIA/BUF, splitting with NE, Losing to PITT/TENN/SF/JAX/HOU. SEA is a toss up as the Jets historically never head west and play well and the only reason I give the Jets a shot is the SEA rookie QB has never faced a Ryan defense. Winning against IND/SD/STL/ARZ.
