Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) 8/24/12 3:47 PM Why are the Jets resting their "backup QB" in last preseason game? Because Tim Tebow is #NYJ's 2nd best playmaker behind Santonio Holmes.
He's resting his backup qb in the game that's supposed to be all backups....odd until you realize that Tebow is the Jets biggest playmaker (starting qb or not) outside of Holmes.
Damn, thats just less Tebow, I'd rather see him get the work. Although it is a good sign that Rex respects his value to the team.
The preseason is the only time we get to see him play. Except the part where he annually takes over during the season and excites the whole country.
I always thought it was ironic he was traded here One of the most likable guys in the league gets traded to one of the most hated and villified teams in the league. Makes me wonder if more people will start to hate him as a result of that.
It's actually perfect. The elephant in the room with Tebow is how many people hate him and are just aching to see him fail. And if he succeeds he'll be that much more fun to hate (for those that don't like the Jets).
We may be loud, obnoxious and over-covered by ESPN, but I don't think we're "hated" by most fans. Fans love to make fun of Rex and Sanchez, taking cues from the media, but in our own division the Patriots are, by far, more hated than we are. Winning Superbowls spawns envy and sometimes hate. Being loud and a circus only makes us the NFL's laughingstock, unfortunately.
I've never been a Jets fan (I'm a Giants fan), but I didn't actually have any contempt for the Jets until Rex Ryan's antics. But, with them drafting Tebow and me paying attention to them, I don't dislike the Jets anymore... I kind of feel sorry for them. I actually like some of these players now. Even Rex a little bit. I'm hoping they do well this year, and that Tebow is able to help out however he is used.
I'll watch any game that: a) has fantasy football implications for my team b) has Tebow, Cam (yes he is a Gator too), or other Gators playing a significant role c) has two good teams going against each other I hope they invent a "Tebow is in the game" app for my iPhone so I know when to switch to the Jets game.
Look at past history. His first two seasons he has taken over as QB, and destroyed the TV ratings. I'm putting you and several others on suicide watch. Problem is, Sanchez is more Orton than he is Brady. While Tebow meanwhile is one of the most popular athletes across all sports. Definitely the biggest "name" in the NFL right now media wise. Sanchez is decent as a QB, I just wonder how he'll handle the pressure. Will he Orton himself, or will he step up and finally become the QB his supporters think he can be.
 I feel like I just read a Gary Myers article. Your dramatic speech falls very short of effectiveness. Too much predictability.
