They let him go, after years of building a solid OL (when we had good pieces) to bring in a failed Miami coach and ex-OL coach. Right decision ?
Callahan was gone because we didnt make him OC. While he was responsible for the offensive line in 09, he was also responsible for the line in 2011,. Everyone in the organization seems to love Sparano, to knock him (especially in the preseason) is retarded.
Well we don't know yet. I'm pretty sure he chose to leave but either way we haven't even really seen a Sparano offense yet so who knows. Also Sparano failed as a head coach but that doesn't reflect on how we will do as an OC at all.
That's not his style anymore. I love how you just skip over his crappy years...Those crappy years are the style he employs now. I expect the nickname Morono to be fully embraced on the boards by Game 3.
I actually would have loved Callahan as OC. Say what you will about him as a head coach, but he put together some really exciting Offenses in Oakland as OC.
We dont even have the personnel for that type of offense. Rich Gannon, Tim Brown and Jerry Rice were good. Sanchez isn't on Gannon's 2002 level yet, and none of our receivers now are even as good as Rice and Brown in 02.
He must have just wanted the title, because he has about as much control over the Cowboys O as he had as the Jets OL coach.
Well I mean you get butt hurt when your organization leap frogs you for a promotion, to bring someone in from elsewhere. Im sure its about the money, as well as he (im sure) wants to be a HC
Not sure if Sparano will work out but he seems like a better fit for what the Jets needed in their OC. When the season ended, the offense imploded and even Rex admitted to not knowing how much drama was going on there when Holmes blew up in the huddle. Sparano has always kept his Dolphins team together even while losing games. He's also had experience in keeping the ego of diva WR in-check. Being a former HC, I think Sparano is more capable of handling the offense by himself if Rex decides to go "hands-off" again like he did in the Shotty days (and maybe like he's doing now). Also, with last year's disaster it was time to just clean house & re-establish another identity in the offense & OC.
I don't understand the Callahan worship. The O-Line absolutely killed our season last year, you can't tell me that the guy earned a promotion.
Just as he is OC in title only in Dallas with Garrett calling the shots, it was the same in Oakland. Jon Gruden was behhind that exciting offense. And Dallas was shutout two games ago so it's not like they are lighting it up...
I thought Sparano was a good coach when he was with Miami. He comes from the Bill Parcells school of coaching I think he'll be fine.
