So going into his third year he may finally be a decent backup? Maybe next year, in the last year of his contract, the 2nd rounder we drafted as a project can start finally. 4 years is a good time for a second rounder to finally start.

That's not a knock on Vlad, just a bad draft pick by the Jets.

Vlad definitely didn't deserve to be a 2nd round pick especially at this point but that does not mean he won't become a good player. There are a lot of players that don't put it together until later. With Vlad he needed the coaching and last years lack of a training camp really hurt him. He had the physical tools just needs to learn how to use them.

Vlad has looked good so far I think he would be able to start at RG but with Moore on the last year of his contract he will back up this year.

A 2nd round pick and the cash that goes with it is ridiculous. Wasn't Vlad like a refugee from Haiti or something? He'd have been thrilled being a walk on and given a pop up tent.

Aren't you the same guy that was trashing our all pro center for going to London for a weekend to see his sister in the Olympics? Nothing you say will ever sound smart after that.

Rewatched game and Howard a little closer.

Granted he was playing LT, and against second teamers..
With that in mind, his pass blocking was actually pretty good. Bought his QB time, and moved his feet quicker than i thought. Took 1 holding penalty, that was declined as it was a sack despite the hold. Other than that, pretty solid.

Big test in week 3 with extended time against 1st team D.

Robert Griffin was playing RT in the game, and was pretty terrible. I think his position is Guard, so i reiterate we need at least depth if not an upgrade on Howard.

He played great. Gave up no sacks and Mark looked better because of the protection.

  12. Cimini noted a scout's evaluation of Howard in one of his article's. It sounded alot like a poor man's Jason Fabini. After watching last night's game..that's exactly what he looked like.

Solid, dependable & physical. He will occassionally get beat around the edge..but he's far from a liability.

Better footwork than Hunter, he was solid. Pretty funny to watch Hunter get torched by backups.

Have to agree, I am very pleased with the way Howard played and MS did have the extra time and it showed in his passing and just his pressence on the line. Overall I think the numbers 1st did great and we have a scary defence. Go Jets

If the Jets have the opportunity to upgrade with someone else's camp cuts, they should look at it , but right now I'd say Harris looks decent as Hunter's replacement.

Howard looked darn good. Hunter still looked bad, he just looked bad on the other end of the line.

He played a good game last night. The coaching staff also helped him with some chip blocks and stuff. Something they didn't do for Hunter at all, ironically.

But clearly, this guy looks like a nice step up so far. He had a tough guy to block also.

I was happy with how he played. He doesn't need to make the Pro Bowl, just don't get beat every play to where we have no passing game. Id like to see him play more Thursday but I guess he isn't going to.

Regarding Vlad, it would be nice to see him do something worthwhile. You can't worry about where he was drafted now, you win some and you lose some. We wasted a pick on Ghoilston and then got Maybin for nothing to do what we hoped Gholston would do. That's the way it goes sometimes, also why I never agree with people who put draft position above winning.
