Wilson is already a better cover CB than Cro, but he is much more valuable in the nickel spot than on the outside, even though he would only look better. Could you imagine Cro trying to cover a slot receiver? It wouldn't be pretty. Wilson really shouldn't be going anywhere. Lankster has looked good, but there is no way he can fill Wilson's spot. Meanwhile, Tanny is probably on the phone with the Lions/Colts right now.
Wilson is a bust he has serious problems getting his head around and locating the ball. Just last week against the Giants if he got his head around he would have had an interception. Its been 3 years now and he should have shown more.
You sound like some dude that used to post here. He had nothing to offer except to tell his friends he was an attorney when he wasn't. Not that being a lawyer is any great shakes. Anyway, you got anything more than that dope as far as analogy of your comments? That one example lacks details to support your argument. Like what the fuck play are you talking about, to start?
I strongly disagree that Wilson is a better cover corner than Cro. I don't think that we've seen anything in his brief career to back that statement up. Anyway, Winston Justice is fucking horrible. I'm glad that this "rumor" is just one of GMCJETS' fever dreams.
In 2009 I admit he could have had a ton of picks if he turned his head lol. But he was a rookie and along with QB's and linemen, it's a hard learning curve. Cro is boom or bust, some games he is lockdown, others he let up big plays. Wilson is a traditional CB, who really stepped into his own last year by locking down a ton of slot receivers which isn't an easy task. If I recall he really didn't let up a lot of yards, maybe a bunch of catches but they are short underneath passes. He has great form tackling and can go against just about anyone. He is very physical.
Wilson is becoming a good corner, and good corners in the NFL are a commodity. If we trade him, we'd better get a king's ransom in return, and not just a pant-load like Winston Justice.
absolutely correct. By trading Wilson we lose leverage over Revis OR if we pay Revis we may need to cut ties with Cro. Either way Wilson is needed. If the Jets pay up on Revis and then have to hold onto Cro the whining will ensue regarding the offense. The Jets may very well find themselves in a situation where they need to trade Revis. Obviously this convo isn't necessary right now but make no mistake it will eventually be the hot topic next offseason. I think the best bet is to see who is cut 9/1 and make a pick up at RT and WR. Unless a trade presents itself that won't cost us Wilson.
Honestly, if they traded away Wilson I'd be furious. This kid is still developing and has the chance to learn from the best in the business. Wilson is going to be a very good cornerback and will probably be part of one of the best corner duos in the NFL. Perhaps I'm too optimistic....
That pretty much nails it. If Revis was to price himself so high that Jets can't afford him anymore, at least Jets can go with Cro + Wilson & have a solid duo. Obviously not as dominant as Revis+Cro but it's still a pretty good CB combo.
Or the Jets could go the Baltimore path and promote value in the front 7 and let the corners just not make big mistakes. It's not Rex's ideal situation to do that but his defenses have been good in both places.
Exactly. The likelihood of losing Revis might be a little higher than people think. I mean I would say 95 percent Jet all the way, but a lot of people think he is 100 percent a Jet forever. I think, although a tiny percentage, Revis MIGHT leave if price is too high. Having Wilson is CRUCIAL.
I don't think there is anyway we trade Wilson. as for Justice we could probably get him for draft picks.
Jim Irsay @JimIrsay SERIOUS TRADE WINDS Swirling! We're talking given up high pick for SERIOUS Vet/Starter!.. these deals often crumble n don't reach completion Shocked to see him tweet something like that
