A friend of mine sent me this................ 41m John Clayton@ClaytonESPN Sounds like the Colts are working on a trade. Jim Irsay tweeted trade winds blowing. They are looking for inside linebackers and CBs Mods if you feel its not worthy of being here DELETE or DUMP.
Kyle Wilson another 1st round pick wasted unless we bring in a monster RT and not just some teams scrub.
Kyle Wilson is looking like a legit, starting caliber corner. It would be a big mistake to give him away for a backup. We should be able to find a decent, 1-year stopgap, then draft a RT next year.
From what I read on WIkipedia, he was traded to the Colts this year. The only thing Colts gave up was swapping 6th round picks, so no real compensation there. There is no way Jets give up a solid corner that would start on their team UNLESS Jets get Winston Bustice, AND a 2013 2nd rounder or something.
His trade value? A first round 3rd year CB is bad value? Besides I doubt that would be the deal. Most likely a pick than KW.
why would the colts trade their starting RT (when the back-up is pretty terrible) and thus risk injury to Luck when he IS their franchise for the next 10 + years? Its make zero sense.
The Colts cap is pretty tight this year. They may have decided that 3.206 million for Justice is too much if the guy behind him is making 800k and 95% as good. I could be wrong, because Colts Authority is nowhere near as informative as nyjetscap.com but it looks like the Colts are either over the cap by $6.6 million right now or under it by about $3.7 million.
I was talking about Winston Justice's trade value. Not Kyle Wilson's. Winston has next to nothing trade value. Colts moved back 15 spots in the 6 round to trade for him. Kyle Wilson draws a 2013 mid to late 2nd round pick.
but he isn't 95% as good - he was (apparently) terrible and Justice (as average as he is) was considered a major upgrade. you don't draft someone like Luck then risk losing him to David Carr syndrome.
This is great. In my "who would you sacrifice" thread, I mentioned Kyle Wilson, Pouha and Bart Scott as prime trade candidates. Colts are looking for ILBs and CBs. KW might be worth more than Winston. Could we potentially get a blocking TE out of the deal as well? It may be worth while. Our secondary is stacked right now. Get er done, Tanny! We can sacrifice some D for O.
The Colts drafted tackles on 1st and 2nd last year. Maybe one of them is turning out for them this year? They might have taken Justice just to be sure they had tackles for Luck and now they see they have enough and holes elsewhere? No idea. They may not even be trading tackles. They're looking for ILB's and CB's. Doesn't say what they're trading.
