I've been hoping they would give him this chance the worse Hunter has looked. I thought he did ok vs backups, I think he got one 5-yard penalty pre-snap. We'll see, sometimes guys need a shot. Parcells threw Fabini in at RT out of necessity and he started for a few years after that.
Too early to tell. The Jets don't have a good track record filling line spots with UFA's though. Moore is the last such successful move and it took more than a season to get him up to speed so he could start. The last Philadelphia Eagle UFA to grab a spot in camp was Adrien Clarke,
my man...its preseason...we had a total liability at RT and have not had our starting #1 WR or slot reciever, plus haven't featured the wildcat at all.
consensus is no matter what he does he'll be an upgrade... however we don't have our RT on the roster yet.
Even if he is as bad as WFH to start the season he is young and has room to develop. Here's to hoping he can play better than WFH out of the gate.
Absolutely...they'll wait for after labor day when its more of a buyer's environment, plus theyll at least give Howard a chance to show what he's got in preseason.
What I took away from that presser was less about Howard starting and more about WFH absolutely no way in hell starting. Sounds like if Howard lays an egg on Sunday I think it's trade time.
Exactly. This, and the Otah trade made me happy because at least we know the FO and coaching staff realize it's a problem.
Wayne Hunter is our blocking TE I was just listening to Rex press conference where he said Wayne Hunter would be back to the role he had in 2009 - 2010 which is the blocking TE on running plays and could even help as the 6th man on the line on pass plays.
I'd so settle for Anthony Clement right now. Clements big problem was Adrien Clarke was on the other side of the line and Clement's below average but acceptable play turned into another point of weakness when it was added onto Clarke's repeated failures.
