Rex now declares Austin Howard new RT. Wayne Hunter will now be a "sixth man" again #nyj

Howard is the starting RT for now...Expect another move by the team. Although this is certainly a wonderful first step. And regardless of what happens from this point forward I fully believe we are in better shape. My biggest fear of the Jets putting blind faith in Hunter has been resolved.

Well at least the front office is finally admitting they were wrong about Hunter and not letting their ego get in the way.

We'll see a lot of #77 jerseys in the crowd. Until he gives up a sack on the first series, they they will all be lit on fire and security will be called. Buffalo 1988 MNF game all over again, you heard it here first.

On a related note, my friend lives upstate and he's trying to basically give away his tickets. I'd have taken them off his hands but I can't find anyone to go. My friends suck.

He can't be any worse than Hunter. Right?

Poor WFH... He's a good dude but that had to happen. I think he'll still contribute.

That said, Howard can't be much worse and at least he still has room to grow.

If we put both of them at RT at the same time they can probably block anyone.

Don't feel to bad for him. He's making almost $3 million for sitting on the bench this year.... Tough life.

Great move here though like someone said, Ego's aside they need to give Howard a shot because there's no way he's worse then WFH.

Now....assuming no obvious "must signs" pop free from some other team...sign Otah as a short term project/backup

Hunter fooled everyone and got some big money.......anyway at least he is a know commodity for a backup. Now the the glaring spotlight turns to the new guy. Let's hope he shows something against Carolina. The pressure starts now big fella!

Glad to see WFH finally on the bench. I still think they pick up another RT if at all possible after cuts.

Agreed. Hopefully this is a win-win not only because Howard is an upgrade from Hunter at RT but I also think Hunter will prove valueable as the 6th OL. His problem imo was that he didn't have the head/mentality to be a starter... going back to a less important position will greatly help him.

Alot of Cuts will happen once when teams have to cut down to 53. The Jets will find someone.

The first step in fixing a problem is admitting you have a problem. By that measure this move is a step forward.

This team is now forced to pay a kings ransom via draft picks for a less shitty RT now. Other teams know we desperate.

Decent tackles are a scarce commodity in the NFL, I wouldn't bet on finding a starter.
