This really is the most retarded team in football. I'm convinced.

And the Jets go nowhere from 1998 to 2004 without the triad of Vinny-Mawae-Martin and then Chad-Mawae-Martin.

Parcells gave us the basis of the offense with those 4 guys right in the middle of the field where the impact is the highest.

There's more irony in that post than I care to admit. Here's the issue, this team always seems to find coaches that show a spark in one area that they lacked in the previous coach. Nevermind that they lack in all other areas, as long as the F-Ups from the last coach have been fixed.

You give up Schottenheimer, which is a good thing, but then you bring in Sporano. I hate my sneakers, I think I'll go buy a shittier pair.

Rex wants ground and pound ....really? Rex has no clue what he wants on O. Rex should have a simple mandate for his O....run, throw, who cares...just score. Ground and pound is a joke at best. By the time Tanny gets him the players he needs to win a damn SB with a ground and pound team, Rex will be gone. He's been saying he wants it for how many years now, and they still haven't managed to make the conversion, and quite frankly, I'm not convinced it's the way to go anyway.

Here's the thing... I think the reason they didn't replace Hunter is because he actually IS their guy. He's pretty good in run blocking... not great, but he fits the bill for whats acceptable for a run blocking olineman.

The reason this is such a considerable shit storm right now is the combined failure of the coaches to get him to do even low level pass blocking combined with the fact that they've been passing more than Rex would probably care for. Part of the reason their passing more than Rex would like is because of the endless stream of holding penalties and false starts.

This team's penchant for tripping over itself has significantly exaggerated just how bad the Jets are with Hunter as a pass blocker. Even Sanchez dropped the ball (into a DB's hands) after Slauson had a holding penalty.

This team doesn't just need a new RT, it needs discipline and fast. Hunter can be replaced... the mental mistakes will be much more difficult.

They need something. I hate to say it, because I'm so insanely tired of switching coaches, but I think they need to just stop with the project coaches and take a proven one. I'm tired of the Manginis, the Edwards, The Ryans....it's old already. This franchise, as long as I've been watching, has always dug for hidden treasure, with the exception of Parcells. Al Groh....Ritchie Kotite, Herm Edwards, Bruce Coslet, that other wanker in Seattle (can't remember his name)...it's just an endless list of of roll the dice.

There's something about this franchise that chases away any leader that has a clue.

You're kind of going off the deep end here. Rex has done well so far, even his bad year was 8-8 after being 8-5. I'm not looking to get rid of him because of a three game slide to end a year after going to the AFC Championship in his first two years with a rookie QB. Getting the established guy who has won somewhere else doesn't always pan out, we can pull up that list if you want, including Parcells who took us once where Ryan has taken us twice.

Regarding Ground and Pound, the philosophy is sound if you play in the northeast with a big defensive team, it makes perfect sense. If you can't block and your RBs aren't very good than it's not going to work as well regardless of who the coach is. When we had the #1 running game and D it worked, funny how that goes.

Sanchez fucking sucks, time to move on. Give Tebow and McElroy reps with the 1's and see what happens. Sanchez is a whispering eye.

Ok, you have convinced me 100%. I will admit that we don't have an average offense.

We have an ABOVE average offense. They underperformed last year, but the talent is there... except at RT. If somebody takes Hunter's job, it will be that much more obvious. If Sanchez plays the entire year like the first half of last season, he'll be in the top 10 easy. The potential is there. RT has to be going through all the Jets coaches minds right now. It really could make or break the season.

Jets O was not good last year. Major changes were: addition of a rookie WR & changing the OC. Why should the offense perform that much differently now?

Yeah but the Bronco offense sucked bigtime last year with Tebow at QB. If fishes and loaves had not fallen from the sky several times during the season Tebow would have played his way out of the QB position last year for the simplest of reasons: he's a lousy QB.

So who should get the blame for consistently being horrendous on offense in the first quarter all last season? Maybe the OC, no?

I watched him play last season he looks like a much better passer to me this preseason.

It's not always gonna be pretty with him but he'll win games for the Jets, he'll make the players around him better, no more scapegoats, excuses, fingerpointing.

If he looks much better to you this season I can't even imagine how bad he was last year en route to the lowest QB completion percentage of any QB to throw 200+ passes in the last decade.

Sheer laziness prevents me from going back further in the records. I suspect that Ryan Leaf in 1998 was the last player to throw 200+ passes and have a lower completion percentage than Tebow's 46.5 last year. He was a point lower.

He's made some nice throws in preseason.:)

Yeah but Tebow also rushed for close to 700 yards in what 11 starts? That's part of the package.

    He's a dual threat.

People in the media crack jokes about his passing but I don't think they're laughing in Pittsburgh.:)

I'd be happy if the Jets O could work it's way up to average this year.

Honestly, I thought they were fucked when they started talking about ground n pound this season. That shit doesn't win championships any more. Every recent SB champ had at least some semblance of a passing attack, AND heroic plays by their QB.

It just goes to show that this team is out of touch with reality. It's amateur hour in Floral Park. Consider:
    1) They keep Schitty all those years
    2) they EXTEND Sanchez after a very questionable year, with 2 years left on his rookie deal, and while making it pretty clear they didn't fully trust him.
    3) They refuse to address serious OL issues.
    4) Schitty's replacement sucks *I still think Sparano was a bad choice, but I guess his offense in Dallas was pretty good so we'll see there.

As I tell my students folks, garbage in, garbage out. The Aints will probably win another SB before the Jets win one because they're just a better organization.
