Up until this year, it was Schotty. This year, it's the RT. Everytime Sanchez dropped back and look downfield, he got sacked. I think the entire game, he had one opportunity to step into his throw and completed a decent pass to Patrick Turner I believe. This is the one time I don't mind seeing the Jets panic unless they are aiming for a top 10 draft pick.

...well, I guess the Jets always seem to run into the perfect storm scenarios. I really don't see this offense getting much better even if they replace the right tackle. But, I guess I am just a same ole Jets fan.

Hunter had a ton to do with the suckage we witnessed in 2011. There are dozens of threads about that waste of money wearing the 78 jersey.

    :rofl2:

Honestly, from what I've seen so far, we're in bad shape. When the offense gives up more points than they score, it's not going to be a great year. I'm not buying the vanilla offense either, no way Rex could hold back from beating the Giants and losing two in a row.

The one glimmer of hope I'll cling to is, our defense can maybe score some points.

Has there ever been a team where the D outscored the O?

Rex says Howard might get some time at RT with starters vs Carolina.

After thinking about the last two weeks I'm not really worried. It may be we faced the 2 best defensive fronts in the league the last 2 weeks and we are still installing our O.

The league in general isn't very good. Against most NFL teams we pick up that yard or 2.

Schotty had 6 years to suck. Sparano's had two preseason games...

Schotty didn't suck at all until he got Mark Sanchez.

Might get? They'd better do something with RT or we're gonna need a lot more back-up QB's before the season is over.

What's the tally up to now? 6,7 sacks on Sanchez so far in 3 quarters of football?

Ryan wouldn't commit to Hunter as opening-day starter. You can bet Tannenbaum is scouring league. #Jets

Ryan hopeful that Holmes, Kerley can play this week. Not optimistic about Schilens. #Jets

For all the bitching and the obvious problem on the O-line, we still have to see what they do in real games with a specific plan for the opponent. I expect Tebow will be in the Brad Smith role, which was a big part of our offense when we were good. In the pre-season it's just standard plays with Sanchez and then Tebow individually, some of which work until we take a sack or turn it over.

We still haven't seen our top two WRs, not sure if Keller's even caught a ball. I'm guessing Brick and Mangold aren't washed up, so it's not like the whole line is a disaster, we have one glaring hole. A lot of it comes back to coaching, do we keep a TE in the help on that side? We'll see. It's not looked good but you can't throw in the towel until you at least see what happens in a real game with the real players.

lmao your kidding right? How long have you been a Jet fan? Did you not see the great collapse of 2008 when Schotty fired up over 50 pass plays in the rain against the Seahawks, when they knew Favre was injured?

Or how about Pennington having one of his best seasons ever as a Dolphin after leaving the Jets prior to with an awful season?

Schotty had a ton of talent to work with. His offenses underachieved badly considering the talent.

Lets look at the offensive league rankings in order from best to worst shall we?

    Yards:
    11,16,20,25,25,26
    Points:
    9,13,13,17,18,25

So for the most part we were middle of the pack in scoring and well below average in yardage under Schotty. 11th in yards was in 2010 under Rex and 9th in points was in 2008 with Favre (also the 16th in yards year).

    Lets see Favre's performance in 2007, 2008, and 2009?
    2007: Yards: 4155, TD: 28, INT: 15
    2008: Yards: 3472, TD: 22, INT: 22
    2009: Yards: 4202, TD: 33, INT: 7

Based on those numbers, its fair to assume that Favre made Schotty's offense significantly better while Schotty's offense made Favre significantly worse.

    See the point?

Schotty's numbers are hardly worthy of the hype he was given outside of our own fan base as an up and coming head coach candidate.

The Jets had some good moments with Schotty but I'm sure you can say that about anyone who makes it 6 years in one position. The overall body of work is underwhelming and only looks better thanks to Favre's contributions.

Getting rid of Schottenheimer is good for the Jets.

That was more about Pennington being healthy vs injured. With him it didn't matter who the coach was because he was a coach on the field. When healthy he made a lot of coaches look good, when he got hurt most of those guys got fired.

he was arguably worse before sanchez

he has sucked, and made his team worse in every situation he has ever been in as a pro.

2006 he was somewhat healthy though - maybe 75% at the most? I remember before the season started we had to limit what Pennington could do. Despite that he didn't have a good season even though we went 10-6. Health obviously does play a role as well I agree. That was the first year Brian came along, and we had to do everything off smoke and mirrors due to the lack of talent we had. When we got talent, the offense got worse and he still couldn't take the talent and mold it into a system where the best players got the football early and often. That was my issue with Brian.
