I know alot of you will point to him being done etc...the unimpressive rushing numbers from last year All I know is this...Bilal Powell has shown little. McKnight between the tackles is a disaster and I still worry about him coughing up the ball Tomlinsons last 2 games last season...combined 16 rushed for 85 yards...10 receptions in those games as well. 42 catches out of the backfield in 14 games. Not the back that he used to be...but I think a guy who can still do a decent job backing up Greene, give us 400 yards rushing and 40-50 receptions. Still a huge threat on the screen pass At this point Tanny needs to get on the phone and try to talk him out of retirement.
Let's focus on a RT first. Wasn't anything impressive from the Giants simply stacking the box because Sparano won't call a deep pass.
RB is low on the list of things to worry about IMO. Fix RT, and get our WR's off the exercise bikes and things will be a lot better for everyone on offense.
I would be for it for his receiving abilities and pass protection but it won't happen. He's retired and won't come back. He signed his 1 day contract with the Chargers so he can retire there so I'm pretty sure he is finished with football.
RB is the least of our worries, between Greene, Tebow, Powell, McKnight, Baylor kid we have plenty of guys to run the ball. Unless you plan on lining LT up as a RT he doesn't have a spot on this roster.
Honestly, I liked LT, but he's done. Last year he was a situational rusher, who was sometimes good and sometimes bad. He didn't exactly have a productive year in 2011. We have 2 young backs who are more than capable of better production than LT last year plus Tebow, plus Greene who has been increasing his production each year. RB is my last concern right now. Fix the line and everything else will fall into place.
And by coax he means "Dear Ladainian,I want you back for the 2012 season. If you refuse,I want your whole family bludgeoned and killed. Sincerely,Allan1"
Right Tackle first, then we probably gotta get a blocking TE. Then we could talk Running Back, maybe.
LT didn't have much left in the tank, now you want to get him off his couch 20 days before the season starts? No.
That ship has sailed. Tomlinson retired as a Charger after 11 seasons, which is quite a long time for a RB. There is no "coaxing him back." The guy is top five in rushing yards, rushing TDs, and total TDs. Why? In part because he was great, and in part because he played a long time already. He's made his choice, and will not play again.
LT would say no! The Media would Just love for us to make some half-cocked attempt to get LT ...Then Pounce! Wake me up when its over.
