Vlad looked pretty good last night. Nice to see him improving. At this point I would try Howard. If he sucks Slide Slauson or Moore to RT and insert Vlad.
this is a possible solution as well. I'm OK with any solution so long as it does not involve WFH. We need to do something and if the Jets stay put and don't make a change all hell will break loose. Net net at the end of the day I'd rather have Vlad playing than WFH.
Howard can play guard and compete with Vlad. Slauson as a RT could work well. I'd feel fine about Howard at LG in between Brick and Mangold.
OL are not as interchangeable as they used to be. the speed rushing DE's and exotic blitzes require a RT to be able to move lateral, have long arms, and nimble feet. the footwork is a bit different as opposed to guard and LT. unfortunately slauson, ducasse, and moore, IMO, do not fit the bill for RT. i would have hoped the jets have already discussed these possibilities.
of course they've discussed these possibilities. thats why jeff otah came in here. If Howard can't get it done then Slauson should be be in at RT.
Wayne Hunter gets to much blame, the guy shouldnt be a starter, its not his fault that Tanny has ignored this issue. On any other team he would be a 2nd stringer, but thats the Jets for you.....
this is true and if the jets dont do something fast I'm going to be Peeved at the FO...Not WFH. However, fact remains that WFH sucks.
Hunter sucks, Howard sucks and D'Brick hasn't been the same since 2010, not to mention Moore is getting up their in age, too. Vernon Carey and Damien Woody aren't coming out of retirement, but maybe McKenzie would like to play. It would be worth a shot. He isn't as good as he once was, but he's not as bad as Hunter or Howard. It's going to be a long season if the OL continues to play like this. Mario Williams Week 1. LaMarr Woodley and James Harrison Week 2. Cameron Wake Week 3. Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks Week 4. Brooks Reed Week 5 and on and on and on.
Thats because Manning was one of the best QBs at avoiding the rush and getting rid of the ball. Two skills that Sanchez lacks. The Giants O-Line was statistically one of the worst in football, and Mckenzie was a big part of that.
the fact that the OL sucks somewhat helps TT since he can scramble and create plays running. TT with the 1s would be interesting.
If there isn't one OT who is a free agent, going to be a free agent in two weeks, or is reasonably available via trade that is better than Wayne Hunter then the quality of offensive linemen in this league has truly gone to hell. There has to be SOMEONE the Jets can use to hold the fort.
Tebow was under pressure with the 2s, not nearly as much as Sanchez was but still he was getting hit. He didn't exactly light it up. Not good from someone whose skill set plays more to the individual. He should've been tearing it up against the Giants 2nd string according to this theory.
Don't worry he will be sooner than later the way this line is playing... They are going to get both Sanchez and Tebow murdered. The 2nd year in a row Tanny refused to address the line... Now this is the mess that we at left with, desperation time has passed; panic time has begun.
shit, give me Vernon Carey, Gurode (can kick Saluson to RT), Clifton, O'callaghan, Jake Scott (Kick Slauson). ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW!
All these guys in camp and nobody can do better than what Hunter has done? I find that hard to believe. Might as well call Marvin Powell if we're going this route.
Jets RapidReports @CBSSportsNFLNYJ Rex Ryan refused to commit to Wayne Hunter as starting right tackle. "I'm not going to paint myself in a corner, because things happen."
