    81.8%.

Sanchez completed 81.8% of his throws tonight. Say what you will about last year. Say what you will about none of the completions being down the field for more than 10 or so yards. Say what you will about the pick 6 being a bad decision (yes, it was). But just remember that Sanchez completed 81.8% of his throws.

Sanchez is being given almost no help. His line (Ahem, WFH) surrendered 4 sacks in one half. Sanchez doesn't have Santonio Holmes or Jeremy Kerley to throw to right now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Sanchez hasn't even attempted a play action pass in the preseason. The problem is NOT Mark Sanchez. The problem is on the line, which I can't imagine won't be re-examined, and with the wide receivers, which will hopefully be fixed with recovery time for Holmes and Kerley and playing time for Stephen Hill and Jordan White.

I'm all for complaining; this is a message board and people are entitled to their own opinions. But the opinion that I won't stand for is that Mark Sanchez is the weak link on this offense. The media is hoping, begging, pleading for the chance to cover Tim Tebow as a starting QB, and we can't let them win. We have to stand together and say, "Mark Sanchez is our quarterback, and he's doing a hell of a job in spite of the adversity in his own locker room."

81.8%. If you include the Bengals quarter, he has thrown 13/17, which is 76.5%. No, these numbers probably aren't sustainable, but his preseason completion percentages for the last three years were 61.4%, 64.6%, and 60.5%. Sanchez is not the problem, and I don't want to read your complaints about him.

    I'm more impressed by yardage.

    But Sanchez played ok.

Just got done watching the 1st half....holy shit! I knew Hunter was lousy...I just didn't think he could be that lousy.

I understand and i agree we shouldn't abandon him, It's fucking pre-season but 81.8% of his passes are completed all by little check down passes that do shit. Get your point though.

One thing that's baffling me thus far: Why aren't they practicing deep shots at all with the 1st team? That's the main thing we lacked last year in the passing game. Even if they mess it up, I'd at least like to see a couple attempts each game.

Sanchez' completion percentage was his biggest hindrance last year, he was very streaky. He'd make 11 straight and then miss 10. If he can keep that percentage more consistent we'll be alright. He'd probably have had a TD tonight if they didn't botch the 3rd & 1, and 4th and 1 runs.

I have always been behind Sanchez in the long run even when I have been critical of him in the short term I still think he is plenty good enough to lead a superbowl team. Unless something drastic changes with Hunter and he somehow remembers how he played in 2010 I expect Tanny, Rex, or Sparano to something about that.

Give him his real WR corps or get him some blocking if you want to see something more than a check down. The rare time or two he had time to step up in the pocket it seemed like he didn't have a longer target available.

Really, what do you care if everybody jumps ship after two preseason games (and only about 3 quarters) of Sanchez in a new offense with injured WR corps? C'mon man. There is no need for impassioned pleas. There is either the "I get it" or "the I don'ts" and you can't change either.

Gentlemen, the offense has yet to be installed.

The line is atrocious. No doubt. But we're saying the same issues from Sanchez. Unable to go through his progressions, nervous in the pocket, telegraphs and stares down receivers like he's trying to eye a woman across the bar, no downfield throws beyond 10 yards and ZERO and I mean ZERO POCKET PRESENCE. WFH and the line are the main culprits but come on, you can't tell when the entire pocket is collpasing on you and it's time to throw or get out of dodge??? HOw many QBs take sacks just standing still?? He NEVER slides in the pocket, never steps up through the pocket, or feels pressure and takes off. It's these failing that caused him to lead the NFL in turnovers last season. It's a joke from our top 10 QB.

I'd hate to see No. 11.

Anyone who isn't behind Sanchez after last night, must be a nut. Tebow looked terrible vs. 2's and 3's and Sanchez looked good despite TERRIBLE protection.

How do you practice deep shots when you're getting housed every time you drop back to pass? I guarantee if Sanchez had the time that Tebow had on the play where he underthrew Hill in the endzone, the Jets would have their first Td already.

Umm, how is he supposed to go through his progressions with defensive lineman on his ass when he plants his foot?

Any QB would be nervous behind that line, any QB!

He made one bad decision, no doubt, it was a bad one, but fucking A, every QB makes bad plays. The problem is that he has to be perfect because he has zero separation from his receivers, and zero pass protection.

Most QB's have some wiggle room, he has none.

Without pass protection, virtually no QB can succeed unless they are a scrambler who makes plays on broken down plays.

He played poorly as did the entire offense. WFH needs to be the backup. Moore may be done as well. Ducasse looked good ironically.

I don't see how someone can say Sanchez played poorly when he did not have his #1 WR, #3 WR, #4 WR, his #2 WR is a rookie, had no protection at all, and went 9/11. He had 1 bad play which was the pick 6, but by that point, he was probably in Ravens mode.

WFH needs to be the backup for the maintenance crew not the oline. Ducasse was playing considerably weaker second stringers.

He wasn't great, as the terrible pick 6 looms large on his night. Too bad that was on his best drive of the night. Like I said before, I need to see him with a good receiver core, an o-line that doesn't suck because of one player, and competent play-calling.

It was one bad play. Eli had one too. In fact Eli has had many on his way to two Super Bowls. There is one mistake bad, and there is ruin the team bad.
